Crib Rail Protectors

So working on updating my registry to complete it, and was looking at crib rail protectors in a whole new way: 1) the reviews for the plastic peel ones are horrible, saying the kid figured out how to take it off the first time and it won't go back on.  2) the reviews for the cloth ones that tie on the top of cribs are good- but doesn't this pose the same issue with kids strangling in them like the crib bumpers do? 

Any advice on what to do to protect the crib?

    Honestly, just skip them. If you get a chewer you will deal with it then. My kid was not a chewer. Her crib rails look brand new. I think a lot of these things are kind of a waste.

    I agree, I wouldn't worry about it now - you have at least 6 months. My little guy was a chewer though and we have been happy with the Trend Lab fleece ones. They wash really well and stains come out as well.

    I had a fabric one and was happy I did. DS was never a biter/chewer, but it protected the rail from anything on usbscratchingnit (zippers, button, etc.). DS never tried to pull it off either. We had it on there from the beginning until we took the crib rail off at 18 months in June.

    Us too.  My daughter was a huge chewer and they saved her crib.  We got them for little man's crib too.
