Infant car seat troubles

My DD has never really been fond of her cart seat but lately she absolutely hates it! There is no consoling her when we are driving. I even sit in the back with her when my DH drives. Any suggestions for calming her? I'm dreading going out with her, especially alone. TIA.

    Lucas is like that too, he's happier now that I have toys on his seat. I know I know but for me the safety risk is worth less screaming. Also trying to go out when he's sleepy helps. If all else fails I turn the music up to drown him out, I've learned after three kids it won't kill them to cry.

    I agree with all of this.  LOL at turning up the music, since I do the same thing.  It is funny looking back at the things I worried about with DS1 that is no big deal now. You can try everything you want but sometimes babies will cry and it is ok.

    is she still in the infant bucket seat? some babies really hate those.  you'll need to get a convertible seat at some point anyway - you could buy one now and see if she's more comfortable in it.

    DD was the same way. We had to switch to a convertible seat. She hated the infant seat. Don't get me wrong, she still cries some but the improvement is incredible.

    Yes she is still in the bucket seat. I think I'll have to just go get the convertible seat to see if it helps. I really hope it does.

    I think the previous posters gave some great advice....we just changed our LO into the convertible from the bucket seat and she's a different baby in there, even now laughing and singing along to the music with me.  She was the same as your baby.  She would scream bloody murder anytime we got in the car...that dread you feel...I felt it too...sometimes I cried with her.  We also gave her two soft toys for her carseat that stay in the car so they are special for the carseat.  Finally, I do what another poster said.  I try to time car rides around when her nap time would be.  I made sure she's not overtired though because that can have the opposite effect.    Good luck!
