I'm doing research on crib mattresses and is it me or are they really expensive? If possible I'd like a good one for less than $75, but all of the ones that come highly recommended are $100+. It's not that I don't want the best for the baby, but money is tight and while I would like to think someone would buy my mattress for me as a shower gift, I don't like counting on those things and I'd rather budget for it instead. I need some justification in my mind... The crib we registered for is a convertible one, so does that mean we'd be able to use the same mattress once we change the bed to a toddler bed? Or even better, do any of you have recommendations for mattresses closer to or less than $75? I want something good, but with the cost of everything else we need for the baby, I just want to try and keep costs low.
Re: Crib mattress
We got ours for about $50

We ordered the DaVinci Twilight Deluxe ($55 from Amazon) because we knew it would fit the crib we purchased.
It has decent reviews...LO isn't here yet so I can't really speak to how it holds up over the years...but we weren't looking for something to last forever anyway... we can always buy a newer nicer one as LO gets older.
I think everyone has their "splurge" items for their baby...the mattress just wasn't one of ours.
THIS. I love it so much I actually wrote a review.
I just purchased this one for my LO based on the awesome reviews. I bought it online from Walmart and paid 56, free shipping.
