  I had an u/s because I was measuring 5 weeks ahead. Turns out it's just a big baby, about two weeks ahead. 94th percentile.

  Both can be inaccurate.

  Ultrasound usually has a window of +/- 10 days.
  Fundal height can also be inaccurate due to body habitus.

  With DS, he measured large from 18 weeks on he was in the 96th percentile, yet my fundal height always measured smaller. I was induced at 39 weeks and 5 days with #1.

  Currently with DD Im measuring spot on with US and small with fundal height.

  Fundal measurements are pretty crude.  They can even vary depending on the position of the baby when the measurement is taken.  For that reason you're still considered to be in the range of normal even if you're a couple of weeks off.  I think really they just check because they want to make sure everything looks good, is still growing, etc. more than actually putting a lot of emphasis on what you're actually measuring.

  My fundal height at 25 weeks was 27 weeks. At 29 weeks my fundal height was 29-29.5 so it can vary throughout pregnancy.

  We actually just got back from a growth ultrasound because at my last appt the fundal height was measuring 4-5 weeks ahead.  Today at the ultrasound LO was right on track in the 60th percentile.  The tech said that the fundal height could have been off because of eating before the appointment, constipation, bloating, any number of things.

  Fundal height is hard to use accurately. It can be thrown off if you have anything in your bladder or if your torso is long or short. I think the bigger concern is if fundal height never changes or dramatically changes between appointments. I don't have another ultrasound until 36 weeks and they didn't give me any estimates off my anatomy scan so I have no idea where LO is measuring.
