Baby Bryan tried to come early on Halloween night. After an overnight stay in the hospital, 3 shots of terbutaline, a pill of terbutaline, shot of Nubian and 3 Tylenol with codeines later my contractions let up. Hoping to keep this little boy in the oven for at least 2 more weeks. On A side note: if it happens again I am refusing anymore terb....that stuff is horrible!!!

Re: Preterm labor :(
None of the medications to stop contractions are any good. The magnesium made me feel "flu-like" and like there was a fire under my skin. I felt like ripping out the IV in the hospital. Doc gave me nifedipine to take at home. Makes me dizzy, gives me a migraine which usually makes for some added nausea! Whoo.
Tell the baby to hang in there! How far along are you? I keep telling this baby he just has to wait until my birthday (36 weeks), then he's free to pop out if he would like. Guess these babies just want to spend all of the holidays with their mamas!
The good news is this: most babies who are born at 36 weeks don't even have to go to NICU.
I find that relieving. I went into PTL at 32 weeks, and they gave me the shots for the baby's lungs at that point, and said after that that if the nifedipine didn't stop the contractions the next time, then they'd be "catching the baby." You're at a good place, and baby will likely be fine at this point. Just take it easy and rest up. Stress can cause pre-term labor. I know it's hard to "not stress" after being in the hospital, but you have to try to jut relax.
I'm 35 weeks today, so you're due the day after me.
