Sorry, I am being a bit of a post whore today. but I need to find a new book for my ipad before I hit the bus for the ride home.
Looking for good fiction reads, I fly through books (usually one every 3 or 4 days with my long commute) so lots of options are always good.
I HAVE already read in the recent few months:
Gone Girl
The Casual Vacancy
The Handmaiden's tale
all the 50 Shades
all the Hunger Games
all of Chelsea Handler's books (so funny)
the girl with the dragon Tattoo series
Any ideas for a good read?
Re: book recs - NPR
If you read the Hunger Games, it appears that you're not opposed to YA fiction. Two of my recent favorites are "Graceling" and "Fire", both by Kristin Cashore. She has a related third book, "Bitterblue", but I didn't find it nearly as good as the first two.
Anything by these authors:
Jodi Picoult
Chevy Stevens
Diane Chamberlain
Kristin Hannah
Lisa Scottoline
Thanks for the linky, I thought it came up recently but I couldnt find the thread
I heart Sarah Addison Allen's books. She doesn't have many, but they are FANTASTIC. I've read them all except the Peach Keeper.
Also, my favorite childhood book is The Giver (I love dystopian novels) and I recently found out Lois Lowry released the "final" installment in The Giver "series" (if you can call it that) called The Son.
On the basis of that list, I recommend you read Justin Cronin's The Passage and the sequel that just came out, The Twelve.
Also recommend YA wise Insurgent and Divergent by Veronica Roth (it's a series).
If you post more books you love, I can offer more suggestions.
I actually finished "The Pact" this morning, I guess I didnt pay attention to the author Jodi Picoult.
Ill try another one of her books
It is hard to pick a genre that I love since i will ready anything! Ill check out your suggestions.
I second the Divergent series. Though I'm still in the middle of Insurgent.
Another YA read in the same vein as The Hunger Games is Divergent by Veronica Roth. I just finished it yesterday and really enjoyed it.
Have you read anything by Erik Larson? His books are non-fiction but absolutely riveting stories. My favorite two are Devil in the White City (about a serial killer set against the backdrop of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair) and Issac's Storm (about the hurricane that wiped out Galveston in 1900).

I read that earlier this year and it is beautifully written and pure magic.
