Hey ladies,
LO is working on crawling. She can scootch backwards with alarming speed, so I realize that soon I must baby proof. I haven't the foggiest idea how to go about doing this. Do you all have a good website or list of how to's you could refer me to?
thank you ever so much.

Re: Baby proofing
You want to be on the lookout for A) Anything that can hurt LO and
Anything that you don't want LO to hurt. Electrical outlet covers are a must-have, along with those things that latch your drawers and cabinets shut (no idea what they're called, but they're a basic baby-proofing item) I would definitely invest in a baby gate even if you don't have stairs- it's nice to be able to keep them contained. Doorknob handles are important as well, you don't need them at the crawling stage but you'll need them in a few months when she starts walking! You can also get edge guards for any sharp edges, such as corners on coffee tables. Also put away any small objects that she can potentially choke on. And ANYTHING that you don't want her to destroy, put it away!
I'm sure I'm missing something, but that's what immediately comes to mind (I have a toddler who gets into EVERYTHING so our house is baby-proofed to extremes, haha). HTH!

Most of that depends on your child and parenting, I DO NOT use cabinet locks we just teach our children it is not allowed. I hate drilling holes in my beautiful hard earned cabinets.
As far as door knob covers again it depends on how you parent and how your house is set up. There are no doors on my main floor that my kids can get to and they are never alone upstairs alone.
My very active very strong willed two year old has learned what is and what is not allowed.

If your kid will have access to the bathroom then yes you will need them. We don't have them in our downstairs bathroom b/c the kids are never down there without us. And the doorknob covers you won't need for like a year (my soon-to-be 2yo can just now reach and turn the knobs). You can do all the basic stuff but the rest you'll kind of learn along the way.
One that hasn't been mentioned is blind cords - these, and any hanging cords or wires, can be so dangerous. Get the covers or keepers for those. Make sure dressers, bookshelves, entertainment centers are secured to the wall - LO trying to stand can pull these over.
It just helps me feel a lot less frustrated to not be constantly trying to redirect him and telling him no. It got to be ridiculous so we finally bit the bullet and baby-proofed to the extreme so that we didn't go crazy.
This totally depends on the kid. It worked well for my niece to tell her what to do, because she listens well. For my nephew (same parents) had to babyproof to the extreme in order to keep him safe. (Like using bungee cords to tie the chairs to the table because he'd be on top of the table at every opportunity.) We've bought a couple of gates, doorknob covers and plug in covers. We will be putting the cabinet locks on, but the holes won't be visible from the outside.
