I have tried the Moby with twins and all the wrapping wasn't for me.
We LOVE our ergos and plan to use that on occasion we need to wear/carrier one of the DDs. A friend borrowed it for her 2+ yr old and ended up buying it because it transition so well for older kids.
I have two carriers - the Moby and the Ergo. LOVE them both. I mean LOVE. I am fluffy so I love that the Ergo has an extender for my big hips! But it's super supportive and I wore it all around Disneyland.
The Moby I started with later than Id like (it was a late post baby purchase) but I will definitely use it from the NB stage this time!
I have: a Bjorn, Ergo, K'tan and sling from Petunia Pickle Bottom and I love all of them for different reasons.
Do you have a baby place near you so you can go try them out and speak to someone? A boutique would be best so they can discuss your lifestyle and whatnot and help determine what would be most pratical for you.

I have a LOT of carriers and like several of them (need to sell off several of them) for different reasons.
My go-to for a newborn is the Moby. For out and about, I loved the Ergo for my son, but have also become attached more recently to a BBSLen Pineapple Ring Sling (wrap converted to a rs) and think I'll use that a ton with the new baby. We have a Beco Gemini that was great at first, but not so great for bigger people/babies, so our Ergo just works better. I have a BabyHawk Mai Tie that is just okay. Mai Ties are great and easy b/c they're similar to like an Ergo, but don't require a lot of adjusting of buckles, etc if you're going to switch between mom, dad, etc. I have a Balboa Ring Sling that is useless, ha.
My current favorite wrap for my son is a Didymos Iris woven wrap, size 6. I carried him in that, on my back, for over an hour long walk around the neighborhood last weekend, and he took a nap back there...we were both pretty comfy.
I love wraps and ring slings now, but think the Moby and the Ergo are great starting-out carriers for a newbie. If you end up looooving babywearing, you should try to find a BWing group in your area so you can seek out and try some of the wraps and things...that's where it truly becomes an addiction though, fair warning.
The AP board is another place to get a lot of info and advice re: BWing. GL!
I asked our June board (are you apart of the fb group? Ask there. I just asked last week and got a ton of info from Finley's mom and I can't remember her name, but she had the boy... I think his name is Damien, not sure). She is actually a member of the Babywearing Association of America (or something like that). They all recommended a Beco Gemini. They said Bjorns can harm the baby and cause hip dysplasia.
We have a Bjorn, Moby, and Ergo (purchased in that order).
The Bjorn is not that comfortable, especially with an older baby, and is not good for the baby's hips.
I loved my Moby wrap and wish I had bought it earlier (I didn't get it until 6 weeks PP). I love the versatility of it. You can front or hip carry, and have legs in or out in the Moby. I used it so so much. It's really easy to do once you get the tie down (watch the videos on the website - SO helpful).
We bought the Ergo when DS was about 1 and had long outgrown the Moby. I love it because you can do a front, side, or back carry and use it with a toddler. I haven't used it with the newborn insert, so I can't speak to that, but it is definitely a great carrier for older babies. I think I will still prefer the Moby until baby outgrows it because it is more supportive through the back than the Ergo, but Ergo is definitely better than the Bjorn and it doesn't have the hip issues for baby.
I foresee BWing as more of a need for us with 3u2 in our near future. The older girls do okay, but they are only 1.5 and chaos is to be expected. Anyway. Thanks for all the great ideas.
MagnoliaBlossom - I am not on the June FB group. I will have to google the Beco Gemini and check that out.
We have a ring sling for when she is smaller. Someone gave us a Bjorn, but I've heard that it is bad to wear baby long-term in one of those, so I think we are going to get an Ergo for when it's no longer comfortable to wear her in the sling.

My mom made me a ring sling, DH got us an Ergo and I'm really hoping for a moby. I've used the Ergo and Moby with my friends kids and love them both, and I assume I'll love them with my own baby as well.

Googled yours and so pretty! My Didy is an Indio, I think it's a Lilac/White.

I had a Moby for DD and hated it. I could never get it tied right and it always rode up on me funky. So, I am skipping the wrapping part and getting a K'tan. For when they are a little older/every day type use for DH and I we totally love the Ergo.

Ditto this! When DD was a baby, we tried the Moby and Ergo - HATED the Moby. It took too long to get it on (time is of the essence when you also have a 15 month old running around), and I couldn't ever get it tight enough. DD was also born at the end of May, at the start of a VERY hot summer. We couldn't do the Ergo with infant insert because it was just too hot for her that way (think over 90 degrees every day, and we were outside because you have to entertain a toddler, too). So she ended up in our Baby Bjorn, even though I know it is not great for their hips. We already had it, the other 2 carriers didn't work out, and I wasn't spending even MORE money on yet another carrier. Our plan was to switch to the Ergo when DD got bigger...but she didn't like that plan. She HATED the Ergo - she would try to push me away, fight to look around, etc. So she stayed in the Baby Bjorn where she was happy. And her hips are fine now
This time with a December baby we are hoping to use the Ergo with infant insert from the start. I gave away my Moby, and have no desire to try it again. If we don't like the Ergo, we will go back to the Bjorn. On baby #3, I refuse to spend more money on carriers!
I registered for a Bjorn because it was one of the top rated ones we saw that my husband liked. Someone got it off our registry and we got it in the mail today and all I could think about was how I heard people on here say its bad for the hips! I'm doubtful it's going to be a long term thing.
I registered for a moby too. I am really excited for that. It's one of those things I told my DH if it doesn't get purchased I am buying it.

Think about the Bjorn in this way. The baby is being dangled by the crotch. Is it comfortable for YOU to be dangled by the crotch? No, it's not. Plus it cause bad things for babies hips. Front facing carriers are huge no no.
I received the Boba as a gift and can't wait to use it. I love that it converts to hold an infant to an older lo. It also adjust well to people of different sizes which will work well with my DH and I. There is a good chart comparing carriers here. I found it very helpful.
We have an Ergo Sport and used it all.the.time with DS. I'll still put him in it occassionally (back carry). We used it with the infant insert from 1 week until he had good head control.
I have the Bjorn (air) I think. It's okay. I never really used it too much.
This time around, after hearing fabulous things about it, I want the Ergo! I'm hoping that it will make life that much easier, as both my girls still love relaxing in the double stroller. This way I can have baby #3 in the Ergo while pushing the stroller.
The Moby is far and away more comfortable than the bjorn for me, but DH did the bjorn-- we had the kind of bjorn with no lumbar support. For $30, the moby was worth every cent. I can't imagine spending the money it would take to buy a structured carrier that offers as much support to both baby AND parent as the moby does.
I practiced before DD was born, and never had any issues with her. She was always secure, and I was able to carry her for hours without pain. Unlike the bjorn.

I'm planning on using a K'tan and an Ergo. (I'm a FTM so I don't have experience wtih either)...
My SIL gave me a Snuggli and a Maya wrap so I may try those.

Moby and ergo.
I used to tie the moby before I left the house, then just pop the baby in there once we got to the store or wherever.
