Transitioning to Crib - How's it going?

Well, the first 3 nights were rough for me. DH even came home "early" (6:00) and I took a 3 hour nap before getting up to nurse her before bed. Well, she slept great last night! Still in the Magic Sleep Suit... She slept for about 5.5 hours, woke up to nurse (no shock there since she would only take 1 bottle for DH and she normally cluster feeds in the evening), went right back down and slept another 3.5 hours. She woke me up by happily babbling to herself in the crib :)

Phew! Hope she can keep this up! I'm glad we got a good night under our belt. I know she can STTN without nursing so that's going to be our goal.

Re: Transitioning to Crib - How's it going?

  • That's great! One night wake to nurse is awesome, so that is great progress.

Andy has been sleeping in his crib (with a slight incline on the mattress) for a couple weeks now. He has been relying on a tight swaddle for a long time though, and yesterday he was ALL ABOUT rolling over. Like, did it once for the first time and did.not.stop. for the rest of the day. It was actually really cute, like he figured it out and then loved it so much he had to do it again and again and again.

But that meant no swaddle. Sad! We left his right arm out last night and he was fine, so I think we will try two arms tonight and see what happens.

He goes down at 9:30 and usually wakes once around 2 to eat, falls right back asleep. Once every two weeks or so he STTN, and maybe once a week he wakes up twice. All in all I'm pleased. I like nursing him at night, honestly. I see so little of him during the workweek that I like that time.

  • Yay! I know what you mean about the night nursing. It really is so peaceful and special, so long as they go right back down afterwards, lol.

I'm glad he did so well with the one-arm swaddle. Good luck tonight with the 2 arms!

  • We're doing better than I thought.  We had our first night last Wednesday night, and he slept really well the first two nights.   Then we had 3 nights of waking up every hour, but the last few nights he's done really well.  He actually did his first 7 hour stretch on Wednesday.  Of course, I kept waking up to listen for him, but it was so much more restful to roll over when I didn't hear him and go back to sleep.  The leaky breasts, on the other hand were not fun.

The crib has actually been pretty easy - now it's the swaddle that I fear breaking...

  • Our transition to crib was such a non-issue that I didn't even post about it.

And I'm really thankful and blessed and keep mymouth shut about my good sleeper and love my sleep.... but I also sort of miss the MOTN nursing.   I feel like I get a lot less lovey time with her now.
