holding bottle

So my LO just doesnt want to hold his bottle...am I the only one who's LO still doesnt do this yet?

any advice on how to get him to start holding it? Thanks.

Re: holding bottle

  • DD will hold it when she feels like. Since she only gets one bottle a day, she doesn't get much practice.

I will hold her hands up to the bottle. Prop up the bottle with the burp cloth. DD will hold it in the car because she has to. Won't do it at home because I'm right there.

  • Nope, he doesn't feel like it. I know he can do it because he will on occasion but he prefers to flop in my lap and have me feed him. I guess I can't blame him since I wish someone would do that for me, too. I did buy one of those things to go around the bottle to help him grab it, it looks like an O ball, but then he just wants to play with it. He'll get it someday!

  • No bottle holding here!

  • DS will grab it and start out holding it, but that usually ends with him playing with it.

  • Thanks for the prompt responses; the only reason why I'm asking, its because I saw lots of babies holding their own bottles at Disneyland this past weekend. I couldnt believe my eyes at how small some of these babies were, so it got me curious. For a bit, I thought I was spoiling my LO too much.

Thanks and I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hopefully our LO's will get it soon :)

  • No bottle holding here, either. Like PP, she only gets one bottle per day so not a lot of practice.
  • DS is not holding his bottle. I keep trying with him but he wont. I am sure a lot has to do with Daycare as well. They said they do it for him. I keep trying at night but so far no such luck he doesn't know to hold it up.

  • Molly has no interest in holding her own bottle.  And I'm not pushing it.  To some extent I kind of feel like it's going so fast already and I want to hold and snuggle her while I feed her for as long as I can!
