So, DD will be a year and 10 months when the new baby arrives. My first thought is to keep DD in her crib for as long as possible and convert it to a toddler bed when DD is is ready. Which means that we need to buy a second crib for baby #2. Is that what you plan on doing? Or are you going to move LO into a toddler bed and use the crib for the new baby?

Re: Pregnant Mommas- 2 cribs?
We didn't want to buy a second crib so right now we kept DD in her crib and LO#2 is in a bassinet in our room. He takes naps in the PNP in our living room during the day. When he outgrows the bassinet we'll move DD to a new bedroom with a twin bed on the floor and move DS into the nursery with the crib. I'm guessing this will be around the time DS is 5 months and DD is 21 months.
DD currently naps at daycare on a cot on the floor, so I'm hoping she'll do just as well on the twin bed.
Ugh I have no idea what we're going to do either. I keep going back and forth. We may just wait until it gets close to the due date and see where C is at.
As for the double stroller I'm not sure on that one either. I'm thinking I'll probably just wear LO 2 and push C in her stroller she has now, or walk with C and put LO in the snap n go. I really have no idea though.
Our UppaBaby Vista has the option of buying a second seat attachment, so we did that. We've used it a few times already just to get out of the house and go out on walks. Of course, with my DD being 17 months right now she definitely still needs a stroller so there was no debate for us.
My friend has a son who is 2 1/2 and they still use a stroller for him, so I'm guessing DD won't be ready to walk on her own on walks for awhile (without walking slow or getting tired). And even when she is ready, my friend said that she will still put even her 4 year old in a stroller sometimes in super crowded places. Or, she will use the second seat to hold their stuff and at least have the option of using the second seat if the older kid wants it.
Seems like a double stroller would be a good investment unless you think you could wear baby #2 for awhile and later on have your DD walk.
My DD will be 19 months when new babe is born. We got a second crib -- I am hoping to keep DD in her crib as long as possible and then we will just convert her crib to the toddler bed.
My hubby's grandparents just bought us a double stroller as a gift. With DD we had the chicco keyfit travel system so they got us the chicco keyfit double stroller so our infant seat will fit.
Lots to think about it. Makes my head spin! lol
DS's crib is a convertible so it converts to toddler bed (then single bed after that), so it's all his.
We will be purchasing a new convertible crib for this next LO.

We had a friend give us their crib, so yes, we will have 2. I want to keep LO1 in her crib as long as possible.
I don't know about a double stroller yet. LO will be 18 months, so I know we could use it. However, she cries and cries in her stroller. She has just never liked it! So, I don't really see how buying another stroller would be any better. I plan on wearing LO2 for a while (it will be winter/spring) and then see where we are next summer. If we end up buying one, it will def be from a consignment shop. They're expensive!
Our pediatrician suggested leaving DS in his crib and just buying another one for the new baby, if possible. I think she was speaking more as a mom of three than a pediatrician, but to save myself the headache, that's what we're going to do.
I can't get DS to say in a stroller, so probably I won't get a double.
We will put LO #2 in the bassinet for hopefully 3 months and O will be 2 years at that time. We hope that she can transition into a twin bed at that time and give #2 the crib.
We will be getting a double stroller because O will not walk holding hands or onto anything and she loves being in a stroller so a double will work well for us I believe
We're getting a second crib and DS will be 18 months with DS#2 arrives. I don't think DS is anywhere near ready for a toddler bed. The one he has now converts to a toddler then a full size so we'll just adjust the bed as needed for him. The plan is to buy another convertable crib.
We also got a double stroller. We got the Contours double stroller because it has stadium seating and the seats can face away from you, towards you and towards each other.
I'm leaving DD in her crib - she sleeps great in it, has shown no inclination to climb out or cause trouble, and I like having her "contained" - especiallly when i will be up in the night with a newborn adn don't need her climbing out of bed to see what's going on.
I didn't want to buy a second crib - to save money - but thankfully my mom (who's local) bought a new crib when DD was born (for her house) and she offered to let me borrow that one as long as I need 2 cribs - and we'll just make other arrangements for the very few times we are at Grandma's house in the next 6-12 months.
So each child will have his/her own room and own crib for as long as they need them.
I need a double stroller - but I'm waiting to see if anyone offers to buy one for Xmas or baby's arrival - and if not, to buy one second-hand. Ideally the Bob revolution duallie - but need to make sure I have an infant car seat that is compatible with it - my Graco 35 is not
(wish I had known that before my Junebug was born).
We only want one crib so baby will be in our room in a bassinet for a couple months and then when I'm ready for him/her to move to the nursery, DD will move to a new room with a twin mattress on the floor. She'll be about 20 months probably.
Edit: I'll probably wait on a double stroller until next summer. Until then DD will get the ride and I'll wear the newbie.
My two boys are getting a surprise May 2015!
Not pregnant (yet), but I definitely want a decent one. I love having a stroller to keep in the car. I'd think it'd be the same with two in tote.
A will be over 2 by the time we have a second. So We'll probably get her a new bed and keep her crib for LO#2. But we'll see.
DS1 was 21 months when DS2 was born. We decided to go with a toddler bed because we couldn't (at the time) afford a second crib. We actually transitioned DS1 to the toddler bed at 15 months, the big boy bed was his christmas bed. He adjusted well to it. I would not see DS2 adjusting well to a toddler bed right now at 17 months. In the end I think it depends on how easy bed time is with your DD. Does she go to sleep right away (like my DS1 did) or does she fight it a bit (like my DS2 does).
Edit- I did get a double stroller. But we hardly use it now since DS1 walks mostly (unless we go to the zoo or something) . So we use an umbrella stroller for DS2 mostly now. We are pretty much city dwellers so a double stroller just made life so much easier.
Good to know! My DD goes to sleep right away, so hopefully that means she'll transition well.
When LO2 is born I do plan on using the rock n play as long as we can in our room... Only because I want to get a good sleep training in before the two share a room.

We're moving DD to a floor bed and putting her crib in the new baby's room soon. If it works great, if not we'll get a second crib (I have friends offering so we probably won't purchase one).
We won't get a double unless we HAVE to, I wear DD everywhere at the moment so see no need for a double stroller.
