DD keeps complaining that her eyes hurt

DD has been sick recently with cold symptoms, and she still has a bit of a stuffy nose. She also had a fever yesterday. I brought her to the Dr. today, and he thinks the fever is related to the cold she had.

Now, she has started complaining that her eyes hurt and rubbing them almost constantly. I told her to close them to rest them, but she won't do that.

Does anyone know what this could be? It is serious, or just another symptom of a cold? Is there anything I can do to help them feel better?

Re: DD keeps complaining that her eyes hurt

  • Maybe it is sinus pressure in her face that she is feeling?

  • I don't know what it could be, but maybe cut up some cucumbers and have her put them on her eyes? She might get a kick out of it and it will probably soothe whatever is going on. You could also try just a damp washcloth

  • Just a thought since my DD was complaining her eye hurt for a few days - I noticed my DD's eyelid had a little dry spot/maye a little exczema. She also had a cold for a week, plus it's been cold out and the air inside has been dry because the heat has been running a lot. I put some aquaphor on the spot a few times and it seems to have helped! Just thought I would mention it since it took us a few times of her sayin that to realize what it was bothering her. Good luck! Hope her eye feels better soon!
  • I'm late to the party on this thread...but to me, it sounds like sinus pressure. Especially since she's just getting over a cold that totally fits. Ibuprofen to relieve the pressure and swelling of nasal passages may help. If it doesn't get better I'd take her back to the doc to see if it's perhaps a sinus infection.
