Interesting how the tables turn...

The other morning, DS woke up early and was just kind of babbling/whining in his crib.  I could hear him through the monitor, but since he wasn't crying, I just let him be.  DH commented that I must be getting immune to DS, because I let him be for so long.  I told him that DS wasn't crying and that I wanted to sleep a little longer.  He complained that he couldn't sleep with the noise.   So, I told him that he is more than welcome to go in there and get DS up and ready for the day then.

Yesterday, DS woke up about 4.  I had been up to settle him around 12, so I tagged DH in to go get him.   DH then says 'oh well, he's not crying yet, so I'm going to let him be for a little bit.'  Interesting that he complains when I'm supposed to get up, but then lets DS be when it's his turn to get up...

  • Our problem isn't the morning routine. We're pretty good about taking turns on the weekend. We argue over who has to get fussypants in the evening right before bed time. Sometimes, DH will pick up Micah while he's making "frustrated with his toy" sounds, but won't get him when he's making "I want to be held" noises. He still can't translate what the sounds mean. He is honestly trying though.

He'll run over to Micah, and I'll ask what he's doing. "He wants picked up." No. He wants the toy to keep making the sound/fit it in his mouth/something new to happen. If we walk over to address a problem though, Micah has a very clear giggle that is in eager anticipation to getting picked up. It's heart breaking if we're merely replacing a pacifier.

  • Oh okay, I get it. I used to jump at his every noise, but now I can tell if he is just playing and yelling at his toys or if he wants me. We started sleep training about a month ago and he only has one MOTN wake up so I'm so happy about that. I also can read his noises so much better now. It's funny how it's like their own language lol.

It is funny how it's like their own language! Athena looks like she's thinking really hard before she starts "talking", then has a serious face or goofy face... same thing with her whines. I'm better able to distinguish between a fussy no one is paying attention to me whine and others, DH is trying but not as good.

Wow my grammar sucked in this post. I need sleep!

  • My grammar is always awful. My favorite thing he "says" is when he wants a toy that I'm holding, he tenses up his body and reaches for it and screams Ahhhhh! like "GIVE IT TO ME NEOWWWWWWWWWWW"

Haha, this made me LOL. I'll have to find a picture of her "serious talk" face and post it. It cracks me up. It's like "Hey, I've got something SUPER IMPORTANT to say. EYES ON ME!"
