Toddlers: 24 Months+

What can I do about constant illness?

Ever since my girls started preschool/daycare this past August, they seem to be constantly sick. DD1 has had a runny nose and cough for about a month. DD2 has an intermittent dry cough and keeps getting fevers. Not only is it exhausting for them, it's difficult for me b/c I keep having to take time off of work when they aren't able to go to school.

I know this is perfectly normal, but I'm still wondering if there is anything I can do to help them out. They eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and take multivitamins.

  • It takes about 9 to 12 months for the kiddos systems to adapt to daycare germs. It seems like forever sometimes. Hang in there!

  • I feel your pain. DS has been in daycare since 3 months and we still deal with it.  I miss about a day a month of work for this reason.  Hope they outgrow it and sorry I don't have any answer for you!

  • We moved from NY to CA last october and within a month my son was at the gym daycare, preschool and church daycare.  Needless to say all 3 of us were sick from October - May.  I found the only thing that helped was a ton of hand washing and a humidifier in my sons room.  I hope everyone feels better soon, I know your pain.

  • We went through this also, plus we move a lot so that doesn't help.

I take DS to a chiropractor and it helps a lot, especially with ear infections.
