Re: No teeth.

  • I wouldn't be concerned yet. Have you discussed it with your pedi?

  • No. I wasn't able to attend her last check-up and her dad forgot to ask him. I will see him soon for her 12 month check-up and if she hasn't talked or grew any teeth than I'll talk to him about it. I have a few friends that had babies in the same month she was born and they've had teeth since like 6 months and have talked for months now.

  • DS didn't have any teeth at his 9 month check up and the Pedi said that it's totally normal for a kid to not have any teeth until 12 months.

DS doesn't have any teeth yet either.  Friends of ours have four kids and their teeth all came in between 9-18 months and sort of all at once.

  • I would talk to your pedi about it at the 12 month appointment. I wouldn't necessarily be concerned, and definitely not enough to make an additional appointment about it. It's only a few weeks til Thanksgiving!
  • My little sister didn't get her first tooth until she was 15 months, so I wouldn't be too concerned. Some kids are just late bloomers.

  • DD is 11.5 months and only has one tooth that came in around 10 months.  At her 9 month check-up, I asked the pedi about it, and she said anything before 14 months is normal.

Regarding the talking, does she babble at all?  DD just started saying "mamamamama" yesterday, and still doesn't say "dada" specifically to DH.  But she babbles nonsense constantly.  Definitely ask your pedi, but I doubt it's cause for concern at this point.

  • I'm sort of in your boat.  DD is 10 months (today!) and doesn't have any signs of teeth yet.  I was actually told by a dentist that her teeth will be stronger than if they had come in earlier so that's an upside, I guess.  Plus, if you're nursing, no biting :)  Give it time, and they'll come.  We don't have any intentional talking either.  She does some mamamamama and dada, but I can't quite give her credit for knowing she's saying it.

  • Don't worry about the teeth.  I didn't have any until over a year and I had the straightest set of all three girls when they came in (my sisters had them all earlier than me).

  • LO has only one tooth, and he'll be 1 in 2 weeks. Our pedi said it's not a cause for concern unless he hasn't gotten one by 15 months, so I wouldn't worry about it. He also hasn't said any real words (at least words that he knows he is speaking), just a bunch of babbling.

  • I wouldn't worry about the no teeth. DD didn't have them forever, not even really a sign of them coming, and then she broke two at once the next day!

  • Thanks ladies. I DS didn't have teeth until he was almost one but I didn't worry then since he has problems with his jaw. As for her talking she doesn't quite babble she more screams at you lol DS has a trach(tracheostomy) so he signs and squeaks at us and that's more of what DD is picking up on. She doesn't say mamamama or dadada. It's more screaming and humming.

  • my son was 10 months for the first two teeth, and my friend has a 11 month old with no signs of teeth coming in yet. It's worth mentioning your concerns, though.

  • Our pedi said it is totally normal. My DD will be 1 on 11/18 and still has no teeth. Regarding the talking, if she babbles it is ok. My DD "talks" a lot, but doesnt say mama or dada to us, just randomly.

  • My son had no teeth at 12 months.  He is going to be 18 months in 2 weeks and has all but his top canines and 2 year molars now.  It's been a super fun 6 months.  Ha!
