I think I have a clogged milk duct on the left side of my left breast almost into my armpit. It's very tender and firm but not red or hot. What have you done to help relieve these?
We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love
Re: Ow!!! Clogged milk duct!! Help!!!
BF, BF, BF and then BF some more. When LO isn't hungry, pump. Warm compresses (not tight, massage area), hot shower with hand expressing a little. It really hurts, but getting the milk flowing is the only way it will help.
GL!
All of this. Massage hurts like heck, but it really does help. The heat from the shower will help to relax things a bit so it's easier to massage.
GL. Hope you feel better!
Everything the other ladies said. You have to keep at it aggressively. In addition to what the other ladies said, I found massaging the area while DS nursed helped as well. Basically anything you can do to encourage the clog to break.
Be on the look out for fever, redness, and flu like symptoms (mastitis). Hopefully you can avoid it (I always managed to with clogged ducts), but I know many who haven't. If any of those signs show up, get thee to a doctor right away.

~All AL'ers welcome~
Everything everyone else said ESPECIALLY about watching for fevers sleepiness and feeling sick mastitis is nothing to play with.
I hope it goes away quickly and as painlessly as possible.
Ditto all of this. When I had a plugged duct, my LC said pump/feed every hour, starting with the plugged side. I also used warm compresses before and after feeding/pumping to relieve the pain.
Good luck, plugged ducts suck so much. Hope it resolves quickly!

Pretty much everything else said, and this really helped me through some bad ones. I got them a lot:
Use a heat back on the area to warm it up. Massage on the side of the lump closer to the nipple (seems backwards, but it helps loosen it after it's warm), then nurse/pump and massage behind the lump while doing so. The baby is more effective but you can use both hands to squeeze if you have a hands free bra and can pump. Then more heat helps too. Hopefully it will break free.
I probably had about 20-30 clogged ducts in the 12 mo. I pumped (mostly EP'd) and of all times, didn't get mastitis until 10 months out. Kinda late in the game, imo, but dang, that hurt.

All if this. I had a clogged duct a few weeks ago and it very quickly turned into mastitis. I woke up with the clog in the morning and by dinner time that evening I felt like I was coming down with the flu.
One thing that I read that was supposed to help, was while BFing aim LO's chin toward the clog. LO's tongue will help massage it out. I found it pretty awkward to do, but maybe you'll have more luck with it. I hope you get it out quickly! They totally suck!
