In the spirit of Halloween, tell a scary story! Here's mine.
DH and I use to live in this older house but only for a couple months due to its spookiness. Everyday we would come home from work, the window in the kitchen would be open, even after closing and locking it each day. Our dogs would randomly bark and growl at empty space. One night our lab sounded like she was going to rip out someone's throat but nobody was around to cause her to act like that. We had a dusk to dawn light outside on the shed and every night it would get unplugged. One night DH went out to inspect after actually witnessing the light go off and heard footsteps when he got in the shed and saw a bunch of fence posts get knocked over. The only way in the shed was where my DH was standing and there wasn't enough junk in there for anyone to hide. Nobody was there. We moved out about 2 days later. I heard this house is now getting leased out to deer hunters and that window is still going up on its own. The deer hunters got so creeped out, they left also.
Re: Ghost stories
My good friend when I was in junior high lived in a house rented from one of the teachers. The cats refused to go into a particular room, as in would freak out if anyone tried to bring them in there. There was a electric keyboard and a stereo in the room that would turn on randomly.
Years later when I was in university, a friend of the teacher's daughter (whom we knew but never hung around with) was at a party with me and we started sharing ghost stories. She started to tell about the exact same kinds of things happening in the room from when the other girl lived there.
creepy...
I've had some spooky moments in regards to the deaths of close relatives.
My great grandfather was a clock maker and the day he passed away we were at home and the clock he made my mother as a wedding gift stopped working. We didn't know he was gone until later that night when my grandmother called. It's over 4 years later and the clock is still hanging on the wall but only for decorative purposes because even after taking it to a repair shop, it hasn't worked since.
My great grandmothers favorite flowers were pansies and the spring after she died, the flower bed at her house had tons of wild pansies pop up. They hadn't been planted there and never grew there before that.
Also when my grandfather died my father and sister were visiting his grave site and my sister had his old conductor hat. She placed it on his grave stone and they stood there for a bit and suddenly the hat puffed up like a head was in it. My dad said my sister when white as a sheet and almost passed out.
I know things like that can probably be explained logically, but I still find them spooky and yet at the same time comforting. Almost like they are still around and leaving their mark behind to be remembered.
Mine is long, but Ill do the simplified version:
when I was dating my exH, we lived in his parents basement. One day I was down there cleaning (H was at school) and I heard a child laughing upstairs. I put it off as his dad watching tv, since he goes to work at 1 (it was about 10am). It was silent for about 20 min, and I heard it again. I passed it off this time as his sister came over with her 2 kids, and I just didn't hear them come in the front door. But then, silence again... I thought to myself, there is no way they would giggle, then be quiet for 20 min. so I went upstairs... No one...
I went back downstairs, and didn't hear it again. That night I was talking to bf's mom about what I heard, and she said that when the moved in (about 13 years prior) she was sitting in the living room and looked down the hall to the bedrooms (the lived in a split level house) she saw a little boy figure walk from her room to my bf's room. She called down the hall, and no response. She walked down to the rooms and no one was there.
She said she randomly hears giggling too when she is the only one there...
oh, and we have a house a couple blocks away from our house that people move in, and are gone within about a month or two... then its empty for a few months...
I did a little research and found out that when some previous owners were doing some upgrades they were killed there... and now people say they hear hammers and tools like people are working there...
I totally want to visit the place one night and see what goes on.
Ugh. Stories about little ghost kids freak me out, lol, that's way creepier than mine!
That made my skin prickle...***shivers***
At least it was a happy boy!
So... not scary at all... but cool:
I had a psychic/medium party last Friday night and she told me that my grandma sends me feathers... well, I rarely see feathers, so I was like alright whatever...
well, I went on a walk this morning with a co worker, and I was looking down at the pavement and bam... a feather blew into my path!
crazy, yes, coincidence? ehh, possibly... until... I just got back from another walk, with another co worker around our building... sitting right in my walking path... a feather... yeah... coincidence this time? I don't think so...
ok... really?!?
I just went for another walk and a little white feather blew across my feet...
Wow, that's insane! Sounds like she's watching over you!
