Parenting after a Loss

eye boogers

Did your LO's get crusty eyes? DD woke up with it this morning on one eye. I cleaned it with a warm washcloth and within an hour it's starting to get watery again. I can't remember whether my older LO had it and whether it's normal.

Re: eye boogers

  • She does every few days. Or when she has a particularly epic cry.

  • DS gets it all the time.. Ped said it's blocked tear ducts.. we were given antibiotic eye drops and they cleared up the yellow gunk in a few days.. now we use them once a day or every other day to keep the infection out, but his tear ducts are still blocked as he always had watery eyes/tears for no reason.. this too shall pass, we hope!!

  • E had them when he was a couple weeks old, right around the time that they say babies start forming tear ducts. I just kept up with wiping them clean with a warm wash cloth a few times a day, and within about a week and a half it cleared up. His right eye started first and then the left eye started up. Now he just gets a usual amount of crust/eye boogers.

  • Charlie has had a crusty left eye since she was born although its gotten progressively better. Now it's only really goopy when she cries. The pedi said to just wash with warm water and it should clear up on its own.

  • thanks! sounds like what she has going on is normal...I think. Good thing I have a msg into her doctor for other reasons, so i'll see if he'll want me to take her in or not.
