Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Magic Sleep suit..success?

Hey ladies,

I ordered the sleep suit 2 weeks ago, tried it and have tried it for 3 naps and one night.. so far each time she wakes up and moves her hands all over her face.. so I end up reswaddling..

I just got off the phone w/ the owner of the company because I wanted to return it. She highly recommended that we try it for a couple days/nights.. and that the first night might not be great, the second shdl be better etc... so how many of you have had success and how long did it take and what age was your kiddo? She did recommend we try it for nighttime first since babies are in a deeper sleep at night.

thanks in advance.

Re: Magic Sleep suit..success?

  • I also ordered it a few weeks ago. We tried it for a few nights in a row and he started to get uncomfortable in it I think. Maybe it was too hot? I also ended up reswaddling but that could have been due to other issues. DS has excema and reflux :(

  • Keep with it!!! I have posted a few times about the sleep suit. The first few times we used it, I felt it worked basically the same as swaddling. He still woke himself up trying to play with his hands. We took about a week long break from using it because he was sick. Then, three nights ago we started again and it really has worked like magic! He went from waking up every 2 to 3 hours to waking up once, around 3:45. It has been awesome! I think it also helped that we moved him into his crib...he definitely sleeps better in that than the pack n play where it rocks and shakes with his every move. I also am not woken up by him and tempted to pick him up at every move.  I think you should keep trying...it definitely has worked for us! I think they just need a time to get used to it. Does your LO sleep in a crib in her own room??

Thank you.. She currently is in a rock and play and as of this weekend we are moving her to a crib... what do you think... I am thinking cold turkey do both.. and give it a good 3 days or so.. would that make sense to you? She doesn't wake up a lot swaddled.. but you can tell by 3/5am that she's had it and tries to fight it so I know it's time.

Exact same story here. My lo was waking so much at night, now she's back to her 2 wakes and at 3.5 months I'm alright with this!
My lo did hate swaddling though so this suit keeps her warm and it's so easy to put her down now, she doesn't move as much during the sneak attack put down! I like it for warmth too, we keep her room at 66 or 67. To reduce SIDS.

  • It didn't work for me in that she didn't go *poof* and start sleeping through the night. Honestly, I didn't really notice any change in her sleep habits- no better, no worse. But I continue to use it  (just bought the 6-9 mos. size) because I love that it promotes back sleeping, and I feel like having her in it keeps her a bit warmer at night.

We went cold turkey with both and he did OK. Then he was in our room in the RnP or PnP for the week he was sick. When we went back to putting him in the sleep suit in his crib he did great. I say try it, the worst that can happen is she doesn't sleep great, and then you just try again! I think for night sleeping (and I never thought I'd say this!!) they do better in a crib in their own room. It doesn't move when they move, and little shakes and shimmies don't wake them, or you, up!! Good luck!

Thanks so much for your help and suggestion. We have a toddler so the thought of losing more sleep is killing us. She actually sleeps well swaddled, but her signs tell me it's time to be done.. Lets hope this weekend goes well! Thanks again!
