East Coasters...

how are you?  We are so lucky to have not lost power and the trees that fell around us didn't hit our house.  The footage and pics of the Jersey shore damage is devastating and just unbelievable, I am thinking about and praying for any of you affected by this storm.

  • Luckily I'm a bit farther north, we're getting some rain, wind and thunderstorms... nothing too serious, there were a couple power flickers around me but nothing serious. My sister is in the Portland, ME area, they lost power for several hours but were on again sometime in the early hours of this morning.  I have a friend who's powerlines were ripped from her house and fell across her minivan, they had to wait for the power company to come move it so they could leave their house.

Everyone who is affected by it is definitely in my prayers, some seriously scary footage from NY & NJ!

  • I'm feeling very blessed...we never even lost power. I think it's because I'm on the same grid as the local police station. Most people in my area are in the dark and they say it will be 7-10 days. The footage on TV is heart breaking. I told MH today I would volunteer to clean up if I weren't pregnant. This is awful!

  • In Boston here we were fine. Never lost power or anything. My friends in NYC and NJ weren't doing so well though they are all safe but have some serious damage to their homes.

  • We are fine in my area, it was oddly calm.  Sadly a woman and her husband on the board of the birth center where I had Luke were killed in the storm last night, I didnt know her personally, but it is so tragic.

  • We are doing ok. No power, estimated up to 10 days for restoration. We have water though.

We can't complain... No damage and nowhere near NY and NJ's damage.
  • Allentown, PA here. We were without power for about 16 hours but it's back now and I'm soooo thankful. It was really chilly in here without heat. I know many others around us still have no power and the hospital where I work had no power today. We attempted to go to the store today and trees and power lines are down all over the place, roads are flooded, buildings damaged. Our daycare has been closed for 2 days and just found out they are closed tomorrow too. We are very lucky to be safe, warm, and dry so I really shouldn't complain about missing days at work, I'm just hoping my company understands. At least it's extra time at home with G!  Hope you are all safe and well.

Sorry to hear of those with damage... I can't believe all of this destruction.

  • Has anyone heard from CMonkey or Wilson yet? I think they are closer to the areas of NJ that took the brunt of it. Praying they're ok.

  • Thinking of you all and your families.
  • imagelisajay09:
Long Island got effed up! I'm inland a little so we didn't get the flooding but my poor brother and his wife and 7 month old son live about 300 feet from the water. They evacuated Sunday. He went to the house today and the water is waste deep. His refrigerator and most things were floating. They lost EVERYTHING and now have no house. It's a complete catastrophe here.

Oh, that is awful!  I'm so sorry to hear this!

Here and safe..thank God! We were under mandatory evacuation so we left Sunday afternoon ansd came to DHs grandma's house who lives in queens. The rest of my family went to go stay with my aunt. We decided to come hereto make DHs commute to work easier and we made a good decision because they closed down the bridges and tunnels. I'm still at the grandma's house with electricity but at home we have no power, 4 houses are destroyed on my block, 2 teenagers passed away, the father is missing and the mother is hospitalized critically injured a couple of houses down from me. So scary!!

How awful!  I'm glad your family is safe and sound.

  • Metro DC didn't get it as bad as those on the coast. We never lost power and had no major branches come down. I have been thinking of those of you in the NJ/NY.
  • I'm not an East Coaster but I live in LA and we get this shiit. I have been praying and thinking about all of y'all! I know the effects can and have been devastating... I just hope everyone is okay and realize that even though "stuff" has been lost and damaged, lives were saved and that is what is most important! Continued prayers for safety and well-being for everyone up there!

  • In Northern NJ and there was damage here, but like the other East Coaster were saying, not nearly as bad as South Jersey. DH's Grandparents and Aunt all live down in LBI and its heartbreaking to see and hear the damage that has been done. Evacuation was mandoratory on LBI and they aren't letting another back on the island for anothe 7 to 10 days! It seems there are no roads, just water.
