TTC After a Loss

Frustrated? Chart stalk please

So as many of you know, it has been 2 months since my loss and still no AF. It was frustrating the heck out of me not knowing what my body was doing, so I started temping and charting to try and get an idea. FF finally gave me my crosshairs and says that I am 5DPO right now. The problem is that every day since ovulation, I have had the EXACT same temperature. I temp at the same time every morning (within a few minutes) Is there any way that this is at all accurate? I tried taking my temp again this morning a half an hour later than I usually do, and did get a slightly different number, so the BBT shouldn't be broken. I see my doctor tomorrow, but I wanted to see what you ladies thought. I just feel like every time I think that I'm getting somewhere, my body decides to screw it all up. Thanks ladies, halloween treats for all!

Re: Frustrated? Chart stalk please

  • I am no help looking at your chart, but that has happened to me. After O my temp stayed the same for a few days then varied by .1 degree usually rising right up to AF day then falling.  But I suck at temping and was probably doing it wrong. (Hugs)?

  • Are you using a regular thermometer or an actual BBT? Reg thermometers show less of a change because they only go to the 10th decimal or something. I also find that after I O, I have less changes in temps. So before O they're pretty all over the place and after O they're all around the same temp. Sometimes charting can be frutrating!

  • My first thought is to make sure you're not using a regular thermometer, because they don't show as much granularity as a BBT does. I am not sure about celcius, but I know in fahrenheit, BBTs count every tenth of a degree, but regular only count every other tenth. I'm also not sure you O'd (neither is FF, because of the dashed crosshairs), because besides the temp drop, your pre-O and post-O temps are very similar.

Good luck with the doctor, I hope you get some answers.

  • Thanks for the responses ladies. I am using a BBT thermometer, not a regular one. And obviously FF changed its mind because originally, the crosshairs weren't dashed. Thanks for pointing that out to me KatieintheCity. Ugh, so frustrating!

  • I just looked again, and I'm not seeing dashed crosshairs. The pre and post "o" temps are almost identical. Can I trade in my body for one that works, please?

  • If you are in fact using a BBT and not a regular thermometer, make sure you are not reading the "saved temp" from the day before.

If I hold down the on button on mine, it displays the last temp taken.  So maybe check your instructions and make sure that's not what's happening to you.

  • I don't even think that mine saves temps. But I took my temp later this morning and I did get a different reading (not a lot different, but different)

    This :: frown face::
Those temps aren't different enough for O.
While you are trading your body in, trade in the thermometer too. Even "preo" you have 3 identical temps. I don't trust your thermometer, and as a result I can't honesty read your chart. the temps are good for being in the postO range, but it's just hard to tell if they are reliable
I'm sorry this is such a Drawn out process for you. [[[[ hugs ]]]]

  • Ugh!

Thanks for your honest answers ladies. I knew that I could count on you. I have the same thermometer as you mdharrison, must be a lemon or something. And I threw away the box, so there's 20 bucks down the drain. I am just so incredibly frustrated. My body has always been something of a loser but this is taking it too far. Not only did I lose my baby, but now I still can't get back on track in order to really start trying again. I really hope that my doctor can do something for me tomorrow.

Could be the battery!  Maybe try changing that out?

I'm sorry this is getting you so down.  (((hugs)))

Do the batteries die that quickly? I have only had it for less than 2 weeks.

  • I don't have any charting advice, just wanted to give you (((hugs))! I know how frustrating waiting for AF is. FX that she shows for you soon!

Thanks! I just saw something about your experience on another post. It is so frustrating, isn't it? I don't want to be a whiner but I want some darn answers! lol

I don't trust your bbt either, but maybe, just maybe, you did O but since the therm. isn't working your chart wouldn't show it. Since my cycle is so strange I started using opks to help me really determine if I od. I think it might be really helpful for you, the cheapos from amazon are amazing.

I keep looking at TCOYF charts enviously wishing I had a "normal" pretty  28 day chart. I bbt regularly, same time down to the minute, after good sleep, and my chart still looks like the Rockies.

Go to CVS and get the Mabis thermometer, it was only 9 bucks. The ladies on here recommended it and so far I really like it. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this.

Thank you for your reply. I don't really want to be spending money on OPK's and such right now, but I might have to look into it. There is this talk of this "average" 28 day cycle, yet I know nobody who has one!! Mine was pretty close on BCP, but that wasn't a natural cycle, so it doesn't really count. I don't have a CVS, since I'm in Canada, but I will check around for the Mabis, and I do go to the states once in a while. The thermometer I bought was twice the price as that one and clearly was not worth the money, but it was the only one I could find.

Smile  So loving that I'm a Texas girl chit chatting with my fellow ttcaler in Canada! So cool.

It is cool! My husband wants to go to Texas really badly. I am not sure that it is "for me". What is your favourite part of Texas?

Hey, I have the Life brand one from Shoppers, and I have been pretty happy with it.  It does sound like something is up with the BBt, maybe the battery?  It can go quickly, if it was an older one on the shelf.

Sorry about the long cycle too, I just came off a 68 day one and it was PITA.

Hmm? maybe I will check the batteries. It would really annoy me if they are shot already, it is not a cheap BBT! At least I am going to the docs tomorrow, where I can get some answers that I can trust. I'm sorry for your 68 day cycle. It really is a PITA, you just want it to be over and done with!

I would say Austin and San Antonio are my favorite cities. They're fun, laid back, and tourist friendly with things to see and do. The San Antonio river walk is really popular.

Interesting, I will have to look into it. Thanks!
