Thank you cards from LO?

So do you all write the thank you cards for birthday presents from the perspective of your LO as if they were writing it and sign their name or do you just write it as you? I have received both kinds of thank you cards and I think the first way is cute, but my mom thinks it's riculous...and as i'm starting these thank you cards I do feel a little silly so I'm on the fence. What have y'all done? Thoughts?

Re: Thank you cards from LO?

  • I write all of them from her perspective. I thank them for the gifts and say what "I" (as in DD) likes about them. If I were you I would just give your mom a boring one from you and do the rest from DD. They're much cute when the kid "writes" them. :-)

  • I did it from my perspective, but next year I'll probably do it from C's perspective-then have him 'sign' his name

  • I personally don't like cards written from the child's perspective. I wrote the thank you note from my perspective and let DD scribble on it with crayon.

I love this.  In fact, I may just take a thank you card and give E a crayon....then mail it.

Fair warning, DD did try to eat the crayon.

  • I write them from our perspective as a family if that makes sense. Like if it's money I say "Thank you for being so generous. The money went straight into the college fund!" Or if it's a toy I'll write "We can't wait to open the Mega Bloks and start building" then sign all 4 of our names or just me, H and which kid the gift was for if both won't be using it. Clothes get an "It fit perfectly" or "The bathing suit will be perfect for summer!". I like the from a kids perspective but I can't bring myself to do it. They do get to scribble on the first inside page and now E can do his own name but not the whole thing obviously.
  • I addressed the inside on the card to what DS will eventually call them, like my moms card was Grammy.

The card itself I wrote from my perspective and then I signed it, written on Andrews behalf.

I couldn't figure out what to do so I asked my sister who is like the grammar police.

  • Hmm seems 50/50...

I think i'm going to do a mixture of both. I will write the letter in my own perspective, but then include a picture with each thank you card of her playing with her new gift or wearing her new gift and then a have a quote on the picture with her saying "thank you _____ for ____. I love it!...." . And then hopefully I can get her hand print on each card as well.

Thanks for the help and input y'all!

Ditto this. When I've received cards from the kid's perspective, I thought it was cute.
