XP: I guess I'm a Halloween Scrooge

We pass out candy on Halloween, and we have fun doing it.  But in my community they do Trick or Treating 2 nights in a row.  If they were doing it because it gets dark, then fine.  But people do not stop going around until WAY past dark. Apparently people don't follow the porch light on=candy rule, so I can't sit on  my porch with DD without being bothered.  Also, half of the people passing out candy tonight don't have their lights on (so I was told by a mother). So that means I have had people come to my door.  DD waned to sit outside and we had to come out.  And then she wanted to look out the front door, but I had to shut the door.  We might just shut off all of the lights and sit like hermits.  Grr...Super Angry

WTH is there ToT two days in a row? That seems excessive. I would shut off the lights and pretend I wasn't home too.

Yeah.. why the two nights of trick or treating?  That's odd.  For one night, I'd be fine...but on the second I'd probably hide inside too lol.

I really don't know why they do 2 nights.  I hadn't heard of it until I moved here... DH came home and passed a little out, but TOMORROW is Halloween!  We are going to dress DD up and sit on our porch to pass it out.

Where I live, tonight was "beggar's night" where all the kids dress up and go trick or treating. Hadn't heard of it until I moved here, either. I'm a big fan of celebrating holidays on the actual holiday, too -- kids should go trick or treating on Halloween, not the day before!
