Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Recommend your kid-carriers :)

I have been experimenting with carriers. I have the Moby (which I love, but is kind of a pain sometimes, and my LO moves so much that it rarely stays in place anymore), a sling (which is good for sleepy time, but thats about it), and the baby bjorn (which is ok, but I'm glad it was given to me and I didn't actually buy it). I would really like one that will transition from front to back and is light weight, easy to transport, and easy to store. Any suggestions??

  • I have the infantino brand. I really like it... we just started doing the side hold position about 2 weeks ago (we only really use it for grocery shopping) but now he wants to see the world (ok... walmart lol I think he's going to be a people watcher like his mom and dad are lol) so we started the side hold, and it works great!

  • I have an Ergo and I love it. It's super comfortable to wear and my back is never sore, even after an hour or two with it on. It's pretty lightweight and you can fold it up into a reasonably small space. It will transition from front to side to back- but be aware, you can't carry your baby facing outward when wearing it on your front.

  • I have a Snugli, the seated Snugli. It looks just like an Ergo and wears like one too, but it's  a lot less expensive! I got mine from Target. I can wear her for HOURS in it and never get sore, unlike my old infantino. This one puts 90% of her weight on my hips, and just a little balance weight goes on my shoulders. I can take the shoulder straps off and she is still supported if I just put my hand over her back so she doesn't tip. It's a fantastic carrier. It takes about 10-20 seconds to put on at home, in the car, where-ever (though it did take me a few tries the first time to get it down!), there's just two buckles to do. It has a little pocket on it so when we go shopping I don't even bring my purse (or the diaper bag because we don't live very far from the stores). I put my check card, phone, keys, shopping list, pen etc.. all in it. My LO is comfy cozy and safe. She usually falls asleep in it unless she is busy being excited about trees or cereal boxes.

This is the exact one I have:https://www.target.com/p/snugli-seated-carrier-sun/-/A-13778515#

I wrote a review for it a month ago but Target didn't put it up. >:-/

ETA: Oh, yes you can front carry (Baby facing you) side carry (Baby facing you) or back carry (Baby facing your back).

  • We used the Moby until G was about 3 or 4 months old then transitioned to the Ergo.  I absolutely love the ergo.  It is amazing!

  • I have the Beco Gemini. Its comfortable and I like it because the baby can be positioned both facing in and out. I'm pretty sure you can wear it on your back too.

  • We have the beco butterfly 2 and it's a good carrier. It has an internal harness system so you can actually switch from front to back without removing the baby from the carrier and even switch from mom to dad when your back gets tired. You can also put the baby in the carrier before you put it on and then just put the baby on like a backpack. It's a little awkward the first two or three times but once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy.

  • We use the Ergo and I also have a couple of mei tais.  Infantino makes a mei tai called the Sash that is decent and one of the more affordable options.  Babyhawk is great if you want a higher quality mei tai.

    This. Smile

I started with an Infantino BabyGo (identical to the Snugli), and by the time Aria hit about 15 lbs, that thing was killing my back. The Ergo is amazing, we love it. Also, the non-forward facing thing isn't a big deal... you shouldn't ff your child in a carrier for very long anyway, it can bother their hips.

  • I love my K'Tan, but it doesn't work for back carrying.  My sister borrowed it on a recent vacation for her 18 month old and she loved, loved, loved it!
  • I had about 10 carriers and we finally settled on the K'tan and the Ergo.  I LOVE both of them.  The K'tan I liked better when she was little and now I use the Ergo a ton.  We also have a Kelty backpack carrier for hiking.  She loves it because she's up high and can see everything.

I have back problems (a couple herniated discs) and the Ergo is SO comfy.  I even ran on the elliptical yesterday with her in it because she didn't want to be put down and I needed to exercise.

Lots of love to my BFPB, Squishy622 <3

I have one of these, too.  And I have to say that it's nothing like my Ergo.  I'm glad you like it, but it doesn't even come close for me.  I can't wear it without back pain.

  • I love my Infantino brand carrier...works as both a front and back carrier - once I learned how to tie it, I adored it!

This. I love my Ergo. Just said to DH last night that it's one of my favourite baby purchases.
