Hey all! I've been if the grid. We lost power here in MA yesterday around midmorning and are still out. My cousins in lower Manhattan say NYC is a disaster zone. No work for me for a few days!
Have you all heard any updates on the Northeast? I'm out of the loop with no cable and limited Internet. TIA!
I live about 30 minutes south of Albany, NY and we lost power for 10 hours overnight. It seems like this area mostly is getting damage from trees coming down in the wind. The wind has not been terrible and we have not gotten much rain.
Manhattan is a mess. No power, damage from flooding, cars floated all over the place last night. It looks like coastal Long Island and coastal areas in CT and MA had a lot of flooding damage. We have family in mid to upper Long Island and they said they are doing well, just no power.

I am just north of Boston. My town is out of power -- we luckily have it (for the moment). Internet and cable have been sporadic. My SSs are home from school (second day). I canceled everything for today -- pending disaster. I will attempt to do some work today from home.
I was watching our neighbors' trees swaying and bending. Thankfully they never broke. We were very lucky to escaped serious damage.

We are in RI, just south of Providence pretty close to the water, but we did alright here. We kept our power and the trees that are down in our neighborhood didn't really damage much around us. The southern part of the state is a mess and most of the houses and businesses along our coastline are in rough shape. I teach is SE MA and we didn't have school yesterday or today. Lots of power outages up there so I'm not sure if we'll be back tomorrow or not.
My mom is on the coast in CT and while she is okay, a lot of my other family who are closer to the beach got hit pretty hard. Massive flooding and damage. Very scary stuff.

I'm in Western NY. We were prepared for the worst but we really lucked out. We didn't lose power at all and there was no damage. My BIL is in NYC and he's lost power and there is a lot of flooding around him but his street is clear.
I am in WNY too and like Laura said, we really lucked out. Mild amounts of rain and wind, all the schools here closed last night though because they expected it to be much worse, so DH has off and I am stuck at work.
My friends in NYC say its awful down there. Its going to take a while to get things back up and running normally.

Wow, it's interesting where and how bad this thing hit! I never thought I would see a hurricane hit us all the way in cleveland so bad! Last night was the worst of it, it has calmed down considerably now. We lost power for awhile last night but it came back on a few hours later. Alot of stuff is shut down and most people I know do not have power. I know people in columbus got snow too! This is crazy!
Everyone be careful and stay safe!

I'm in Gloucester County, NJ. About 45 minutes from Atlantic City. We faired very well thankfully through the storm. We had trees come down in Irene last year but nothing more than a few small branches this time around. DH works down the shore area and took a ride there this morning. Where he is wasn't too horrible but some flooding and trees down. Water system is shot so no fresh water. He did not open the store today. My plan was to work from home today since I'm about 45 minutes south of where I work in Cherry Hill, but the office has no power so I can't log onto my computer. Darn!
Hoping the clean up goes smoothly for those who need it and everyone without power gets restored as quickly as possible!!
Tried to conceive on our own for a year before moving on to fertility treatments. Dx unexplained. About 10 months of procedures, shots, and countless doctor appointments, we got our BFP!

I'm in D.C. Metro and we were extremely lucky and missed the worst of it. We lost power for about 12 hours and many places are still closed today, but I should be back to work tomorrow.
I'm along the coast of CT and we (very luckily) didn't lost power. They have a ton of people out trying to get power back up and running but they say it can still be a few days... NYC, NJ and western CT coast are all pretty messy and still flooded in parts. PM me if you want more updates... I have been checking the news all day!
Skylar Elena and Hollyn Isabella... our two beautiful blessings arrived April 18, 2013!
I'm just a few miles west of Boston - luckily we didn't lose power AND LO decided not to make his grand entrance yet (my EDD is tomorrow)! I really didn't enjoy the added stress of Hurricane Sandy w/my EDD so close, but I am SO THANKFUL that I don't live in NYC!
My friends live in midtown East Manhattan, lost power last night, and looks like will be out for days. They have booked a hotel but have to pay an extra $150/n for their dog to stay w/them.
And I just heard back from one friend in NJ. Not only she has no power, her hospital (she's a physician) also lost power and is operating on generators. Feel so bad for her.
