Outgrown changing mat-where to change diapers?

I apologize, if this sounds a bit dumb, but I'm a FTM.

My LO is very tall and has outgrown the changing mat.I have a great "station" set up on the top of the dresser, but it's gotten way too dangerous.

I'm not sure where to change her.On the floor? If you do this, where do you keep all the necessities such as diaper, wipes, creams etc. I love the convenience of having everything next to the changing mat, but on the floor my LO would attack them.

What do you all do? TIA

Re: Outgrown changing mat-where to change diapers?

  • I bring one diaper and my wipes box. Have DD hold the diaper while you take care of the old one. Slap new diaper on and voila. You're done.

I still have all my stuff near the old changing mat. I just grab what I need for the one diaper change and pop a squat.

  • I have a diaper caddy thing that I stick all things diaper related in and change DS on the floor now... usually between my legs so he can't wiggle everywhere!

  • I've been changing DS on the floor since two weeks because he's such a mover and squirmer that I always felt more comfortable.  I usually let him play with the new diaper while I clean him and then he gets a new clean wipe to play with.  He's still so all over the place that sometimes I have to use my feet to hold him down so I can do up hs diaper.  Boy does not like to sit still for Mama!

  • The bottom drawer of her dresser is where I have all my diaper changing supplies. I just lay her down in front of it, open the drawer, and everything is right there. When she gets a little stronger I'll have to put a safety latch on that drawer, but for now it's had enough to pull out she can't get it.

  • we have a really nice dresser with a hutch in my Lo nursery. It is where we changed him for about.......2 weeks....then we just did it in the living room. I have  quilt that i keep in the middle of the living room and keep all the necessities in a basket on the end table by our couch. Do you know those caddies you get from your ob at certain appointments that have the free formula samples and coupons? Those make great organizers. We also have one of those with gripe water, thermometer, and extra paci and diapers. The other basket has burp rags and bibs in it.

I have a caddy like that!I totally forgot about it,since I've been using it in the kitchen for LO-s cups and such.

  • We've never had a changing mat/table- i'd never know how to use one haha. DD hates being changed in stations out so she'd prob hate that too lol. We just keep diapers upstairs and down and either change her on the bed or on the floor and just grab what we need. she loves playing with the wipe box or her butt paste!

I love this idea! So smart and convenient!
