Just a quick post here....We will be meeting a one year old boy tomorrow and possibly starting overnights by the end of the week. Dh and I are foster to adopt and still in the licensing process....may be taking over care of this child. We are not really prepared and want to pick some things tomorrow morning....what would you consider the basics? Thanks!!!
Foster to adopt process started 8/2012:)
Re: Essentials for a one year old?
Diapers, wipes, bottles or sippies (maybe get both, some kids are completely off the bottle by 1 but many are not), whole milk, crib or pack n play, sheets, pjs, some soft comfy clothes, socks with grippers on the bottom, a cute stuffed animal for comfort.
For food if I didn't have any info on what he ate I'd probably get jarred food in stage 2 and 3 if he's used to baby food, if he eats finger foods frozen waffles, yogurt, steamed veggies, puffs, Cheerios
Good luck, 1 is a really fun age!!
How exciting!
Basics would include a car seat, somewhere for him to sleep, toddler food (I *think* DD was still doing some purees at that age, you can check various sites for what a typical 1yo is eating at that point), milk (likely whole cow's milk unless he has allergies), bottles and sippy cups (1yo is usually when you make the transition from bottles), diapers, clothes, shoes, etc.
A lovey of some sort might be nice if he doesn't have one.
GL!
