Leap pad owners--- questions

Hey ladies--

I'm thinking to allow my MIL get the leap pad for Christmas--a very generous gift from her.

Anyways--I'm so overwhelmed!!!  So what is the difference between just downloading apps online and buying cartridges?  Do the cartridges just snap in to the leap pad or what do I do with them??

Is it a touch screen or do you have to use the stylus?  My son seems to be left handed--- will it work appropriately for him?

He loves an app on my iphone that is basically him drawing with his finger--- is there anything like that for leap pad that you may know of?

I was debating getting him the kindle instead but thinking maybe this should be a "first step" for him--and maybe I'll get something like an ipad later when we can afford it a little easier.

Thanks guys!  I'm not a techy AT ALL so this is scary to me.

Oh--and that RECHARGER pack--do I need that??

  • I am glad you asked this/ I bought one for my daughter on Saturday she loves it. But I want to get her a few more apps she is 2.5 any recommendations?
Also I think but I am not 100 percent sure that if you download the aps you can put them on more than one device unlike the cartridges. My friend has 2 kids and they both have pads but they share downloads. I think
