Babies on the Brain

Why does my stomach ache?

Preface: I'm pretty sure I'm not pg, and I'm not going to bother poas because I just had AF last week.

For the past couple days my stomach has been feeling weird. It's not painful, and I'm not nauseous, but it's just an unsettling feeling. Not all the time, and I've changed what I've been eating (so it's not just one source). It happens more often in the afternoon and late evening than other parts of the day.

It seems like people left and right are becoming allergic to gluten. Is this a possibility? I sure hope not. I love gluten.

Also, I'm asking strangers on the interwebz because I don't have time for a doctor's appointment anytime soon (or the money for it), and tbh, I don't really go to the doctor unless I feel it's necessary.

Don't flame me. I'm just trying to get more involved on this board!

Any suggestions?

  • Not painful or nauseous but there....I don't know if that's enough to go on. The typical response for having a gluten allergy (a least typical of the dozen people I know who have it) is more noticeable than just an odd feeling in your stomach. A mild allergy to gluten can manifest itself in the form of gas and bloating and abdominal discomfort.  A slightly more intense allergic reaction can lead to diarrhea and other various symptoms.

Read the link below (sorry it's not clicky, can't make it work on my iPad), just be careful self diagnosing. That can lead to a lot of unnecessary worrying about nothing. If you get other symptoms along with the stomach discomfort that concern you a little more, I would recommend going to a doctor. But for now I don't think you're in any danger.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm not too worried about it now since it's not stopping me from eating (Ummm pizza and breadstick for dinner tonight? Yes please!). I just wasn't sure if it was common to be diagnosed as an adult, except for celebrities who are just jumping on the bandwagon.

Like PP I am going to guess that you have to poop.

    PAIF/SAIF Welcome!

  • You had pizza and breadsticks last night for dinner and you wonder why your stomach hurts?

You don't have to go gluten free. I'd just try eating well for a couple of days. Lots of leafy green veggies, clean proteins grilled chicken or fish, whole grains. Nothing fried, nothing fast food. Lots of water. No soda.

See how you feel after that. It sounds like a diet thing.

    This.

Your body is probably just getting used to your new diet. I don't really know how differently you are eating but if you are eating more fruits, veggies and high fiber  foods you should incorperate them into your diet very  gradually.

Me 26 DH 31. Off oral contraception since 1/2012. Actively TTC # 1 since 4/2012. CD3 bloodwork, hsg normal 6/2013. SA performed 7/2013 - low count, low motility. First RE appointment 9/4/2013. Were told SA not good enough for IUI. Repeat SA and additional bloodwork ordered. RE suggests DH see a urologist. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3e32d9/thumb.png

When I wrote that I change what I'm eating, I didn't mean a new diet (even though I know it came off that way), but I meant that my stomach feels that way regardless of what I eat (so it's not just one source).

I don't think it's necessary at all to ask internet strangers anything, but I was just curious of anyone had any ideas. I'm not worried about it right now, and if I was, I would consult my PCP. More of just a curiosity.

I exaggerated about being able to afford a doctor's visit; I am insured, but it would be a $75 copay and it's just not "worth" it to me at this point since I'm not all too concerned with the issue.

    Yes
  • Try drinking some water. That usually helps!
