I told my parents right away with DD & was waiting for a family gathering before I m/c. I think it depends on your relationship with them.
I called my OB right away with both BFPs. I had a different OB when I got pregnant with DD and both had me come in around 6 weeks, but I hear that is early for most practices. If you have TTTC or extenuating concerns, you may be seen right away for blood tests, u/s, etc.

1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? We told our parents at 10 weeks. Ideally I would like to wait until after 1st tri, but we were actually seeing them at 10 weeks so we told.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? My OB doesn't see you until 8 weeks.
1. With DD #1 we waited to see the heartbeat to tell our families, we started slowly telling others after that. With DD # 2 we told people at 18 weeks. We will most likely wait until 12 weeks this time.
2. I was seeing an RE with DD #1, so we got into see the doctor right after my BFP. The second time I didn't find out I was pg until I was 18 weeks, so I had an appointment as soon as I got my BFP again with her. I think the normal timing is 8 weeks though. I'm hoping to find out with this BFP:).

1) I plan to tell our parents as soon as we find out...then others around 8-12 weeks probably...I'm bad at keeping things to myself haha
2) I will go as soon as I get my BFP probably because I am on zoloft, so my dr wants to know as soon as I'm KU. Otherwise she doesn't see you until you are 8 weeks along.
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? If I were to get pregnant this, I would tell them on Thanksgiving. I plan to wait until after we have an ultrasound because I had an early miscarriage last time and it devastated my mom and I can't deal with her being more upset than me again if something happens. With both DS and the m/c we told them right away. 2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP?My practice sees you around 5 weeks for a nurses' visit and bloodwork and then you see the OB around 8 weeks for a dating ultrasound. I'll be going in the day of my BFP for betas and progesterone check though.

1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? With DD we told as soon as we found out, which I know is WAY EARLY. We were just so shocked we kind of blurted it out to everyone. If we are lucky enough to have a 2nd we will wait longer, 10-12 weeks.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? Found out Sept 18 didn't see the doc until the 2nd week of October. It was a LOOOONG wait, I was so anxious!
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? I told my parents right away and will do so again my second time around. I will wait a little longer to tell some friends, only ones I can trust to not spew my news all over town.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? This prob isn't standard but I went the day after I got my BFP. I had taken provera and when AF didn't show I tested... I think in normal circumstances, a month or so after BFP or whenever you can get in!

1) My rule on telling people - anyone that you are willing to "untell" if you have a miscarriage, you can tell anytime. We told my parents and a few friends around 6-8 weeks. Everyone else we waited until after 13 weeks.
2) You can call your doctor's office at any time. Some vary in when they will want to see you. My doctor likes to do a dating ultrasound around 6-8 weeks, so my first appointment is before that. The dating ultrasound is important if you plan on doing some of the prenatal testing, like the N/T scan. Some doctors do not have you come in until around 12 weeks, so it can vary. Whenever you get a positive HPT, you should call and they will walk you through it.
FYI, my doctor never had me take a pregnancy test in his office to confirm the HPT - this practice also varies.
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP?
I was about 9 weeks pregnant. We were worried about m/c and wanted to wait, so it was right after the first ultrasound.
This time around, I don't plan to wait as long. I have to control my anxiety and the only method I have for that is to live day-by-day. If I am pregnant for the day, I will focus on that.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP?
With my first, it was 9 weeks. Most practices say to wait until 6-8 weeks.
1) I will tell my parents and H's parents with the BFP. Probably our siblings as well. If anything happened we would want them to know anyway. We waited for others a bit longer around 12 weeks.
2) My doctors office usually sees you to confirm the BFP when you call in. Then you have actual appointments with them starting at 8 weeks.

1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP?
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP?
1) I haven't got my BFP yet but since both of our parents know we are TTC we probably won't wait very long to tell them. We want to go to the first appointment to confirm pregnancy first and then we will probably tell them.
2) I'm not sure for this question, I think it's around 8 weeks. My doctor knows we are TTC and he told me once I get a + HPT to call and set up an appointment to confirm pregnancy and I think he said I will probably be somewhere around 8 weeks along when I come in.

1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? We told both sets of parents right away (1st grandchild on both sides) but this time around we plan to wait 12 weeks.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? We went in at 6 weeks just to talk and go over everything and had an ultrasound at 8 weeks, which I think is early and I don't think our new OB where we live now does that. I'm kind of bummed.
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? We told family at 6 weeks. I told my BF the day i got a positive. This time I have decided to wait a until closer to 12 with my family. My BF rigt away though. (I have to tell someone). 2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? My dr saw me at 7 weeks i think. I had my first ultrasound at 10.

1) My parents will probably know sometime around 6 weeks, if this cycle works we will tell DH's family on Christmas day (about 10 weeks), because there has been a pregnancy announcement in his family on that day (or xmas eve) for the past 3 years. If this isn't it, we'll stick to 12 weeks as the timeframe.
2) I'll see my RE within a week for beta. First u/s will be around 5 weeks.

1 How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP?
It was 9 to 10 weeks with both kids. I'll tell my mom immediately this time around, but my dad can wait. Haha! And we'll tell DH parents after our first appointment.
2 When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? I'll be seeing a new OB this time around so I'm not quite sure how they work. I believe I'll have an appointment to confirm and do bw and then schedule the next one at 8 weeks.

Just a few newb type questions/curiousity for a gloomy Tuesday:
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP?

I told my parents at around 7 weeks which was maybe a little earlier than I wanted but they were travelling out of country. We told DH's parents at around 9 weeks I think. We wanted to wait a while to tell them (until after they had visited family) so FIL wouldn't blab.
I went to my PCP as soon as I found out because he had said at my annual to make an appt with him when I got pg. But all it was was PIAC. I wanted a midwife so he gave me a phone number. I met with my MW at 15 wks.
bfp#4 3/19/2014 edd 12/1/2014 please let this be the one!
1) MH and I are both biologists (aka nervous nellies), so we actually waited to tell anyone until after our 8 week ultrasound showed a heartbeat. Told everyone else at 12 weeks. I think I will tell just my mom earlier this time.
2) First doctor appointment was 8 weeks. They wouldn't see anyone before that unless there was a history. They did the u/s and some blood work.
1. When it happens we will wait for at least 12 weeks - if there is a special occasion/large family gathering maybe a week or two earlier. My grandmother I'd want to tell first followed by hubby's parents & then everyone else.
2. At my yearly, my gyn told me once I get BFP call up, they will do blood work & an ultrasound (not sure if it would be a quick appt or waiting a few weeks before seeing him) & then he'd refer me onto an OB.

We told my parents and DH's Mom at about 8 or 9 weeks. I think with the next one, I will probably tell them sooner. I had a MC before I got pregnant with DS and we hadn't told anyone, but in hindsight, I could've told my parents and DH's Mom because we ended up telling them about the MC after the fact.
I had midwives with DS so once I get my BFP, I will contact my midwives right away and they will probably schedule me in for my first appointment around 9 weeks
1) My first pregnancy I told everyone the day I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks and 3 days. This next one, I plan on keeping it a secret for at least 12 weeks.
2) My first pregnancy I didn't got see my Midwife until I was 13 weeks but, that is because the office was over crowded on apps for a couple months. Normally you would go in between 8-10 weeks.
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? DH and I want to wait at least 8 weeks to tell parents, maybe closer to 12. If this cycle is it we'll tell at Christmas time, which will be 11 ish weeks. We have a great relationship with all parents, but if something were to happen I'd want to grieve on my own first.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? Haven't been in that position yet, so I have no idea!
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP?
First pregnancy, we told my parents the day after we found out and told my husband's mom a few days later. Second pregnancy, we told my parents the same day and told his mom a few weeks later.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP?
First pregnancy, I found out I was pregnant on CD123. I didn't know how far along I was so I made an appointment and was seen at 6 1/2 weeks. With my second pregnancy, I waited until 11 weeks.
1. I told my mom right away for each pregnancy (we had 2 early losses). We didn't tell my MIL until 14w.
2. I was seeing an RE, so our early appointments were with her. For my losses we had appointments at 9w (missed m/c) & 5w (natural m/c). With DD my first OB appointment was at 9w. I called after we confirmed a heartbeat with the RE.

5/1/11 - BFP #3 - Pre-eclampsia, IUGR & bed rest from 32w. DD born via induction 1/4/12.
1) Honestly, my parents will be the last family we will probably tell. Not because they won't be excited, but they would tell everyone before we had the chance to.
2) With my first 2 pregnancies I never even called until after they were over. I never got the chance. With this one my dr. said to call as soon I get a positive to come in to check levels. So I'll at least be in for blood work very early, but that is only because I've had 2 c/p's in a row.

Just a few newb type questions/curiousity for a gloomy Tuesday:
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? Before my c/p I said I'd wait 12 weeks before telling anyone but it was so hard to call my parents and BFF and say "so I was pregnant and now I'm not" and expect them to process all of that news. I've gone back and forth now between saying I'll tell after my first ultrasound to thinking I'll tell before then (only very few people) because if something is wrong on the ultrasound I know I'll be a mess.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? It varies by doctors group and patient. I'll be seen right at 6 weeks and have an ultrasound at that appointment but thats on the early side from what I've seen. My OB usually sees people around week 8.
I waited a couple days to tell my folks via skype, but then had a loss a few days later. I might have waited longer but it was grandparents day and also my Mom's bday - just too perfect not to share. We wait to tell IL's for as long as possible.
I went right away to the dr so I could get an OB referral. But the OB doesn't see you here until 8 wks. My Dr said that the 8 wk appointment is not even important, that you can skip it or do it later if you wanted to. I would definitely go though.
Next time I think I will wait a little longer to tell my folks, but I don't think I could hold out much more than a week.
1) I debating on when would be the best time to tell the parents (mine and ILs). I don't know if I'll tell them right after BFP, or first appt. or after 12 weeks. Because I'm impatient it'll probably be one of the first two choices.
2) I had a consultation appt. with a CNM when we first decided to TTC, so that I could get everything in order before we actually got a BFP. She said she wouldn't want to see me until I was 6 to 8 weeks, because of a chance of miscarriages (though they don't run in my family at all).
With DS, I found out I was pregnant right before 4 weeks (my BFF found out about the BFP before DH). We had a dr appt at 6w2d. I had an U/S done, as well. I told my sister at 7w and told DHs parents at 8 weeks, and my Dad at 9 weeks. The rest of the world found out around 12 weeks.
I was at my parents on Christmas Day when we found out we were KU'd so we told everyone. We are a very close family and I would want all their support if it had ended in m/c. However, we got a BFP 5 mins before Christmas Dinner and it was impossible to sit on that. Everyone else we told at 14 weeks.
My midwife takes 1st appts at 8 weeks. Our OB also, unless there is a history of complications.
Just a few newb type questions/curiousity for a gloomy Tuesday:
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? we told my folks a few days after we found out! I couldnt keep it in we had tried for over a year! This time I would hope I could hold it in a little longer LoL..might who knows! My husband swore he wouldnt tell anyone until we were through the 1st trimester but he ended up calling his dad a few days after we found out...it was weird he decided to do it that way because he was killed in an accident right after that (my first husband) so the last conversation he had with his dad was about him going to be a grandpa...after the fact I was so glad that he got to have that last phone call with him.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? It was a few weeks out...you feel like you want them to see you asap but I called right away and then it was a few weeks after that.

18weeks?? Really? Wow that must have been crazy. What happened? don't mean this to be snarky at all, just curious as it sounds like an interesting story!
1. I've never had a BFP, but I really want to wait until at least 12w to tell everyone. We'll probably tell our parents at different times. However, part of my job requires me to be in a factory that is unknown whether it is safe or not for pregnant women. Since I don't want to risk it, I'll have to tell at least a few people at work. Which in turn will mean everyone will know within a few days... This includes my husband's cousin who I'm sure will tell my talkative MIL right away. Yay!
2. My doc said to call as soon as I get a BFP to make an appt. I'm not sure how quick that would be.

Maybe this will help since I just got my BFP:
1) We aren't telling anyone until Christmas which will be about 12 weeks.
2) I just called for my first appointment and it's not until December 12th. They said they didn't need to see me until 8-10 weeks.

1. No one will know, except DH and I, until after the 2nd tri.
2. My Dr. Will want to see me immediately for HCG testing. However, I would much rather wait until the normal 8 week appt. But that's another story.
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP?
We told our parents right away for DS. For LO#2, if it's near a holiday, we'll probably wait until then to tell them.
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP?
When I found out with DS, I called right away, and they scheduled an appointment for when I was 8 weeks pregnant.

Clomid/Femara cycle #2 - 7/10 = BFP #1 - Missed miscarriage 9/2/10
11/12 - BFP #2 - 11/22 - m/c
5/1/11 - BFP #3 - Pre-eclampsia, IUGR & bed rest from 32w. DD born via induction 1/4/12.
1) Honestly, my parents will be the last family we will probably tell. Not because they won't be excited, but they would tell everyone before we had the chance to.
2) With my first 2 pregnancies I never even called until after they were over. I never got the chance. With this one my dr. said to call as soon I get a positive to come in to check levels. So I'll at least be in for blood work very early, but that is only because I've had 2 c/p's in a row.

1. We told my parents at 11 weeks. We'll probably do the same next time.
2. I saw my RE shortly after my beta, just shy of 6 weeks, for my first ultrasound. I had another ultrasound two weeks later and was then released to my OB.

Lots of love and luck to my TTGP IVF Buddy Kathy4678!
О Привязать! Z!
1. and 2.
TTC since April 2012
First Urologist appt 1/30
1) How long will you/did you wait to tell your parents about your BFP? With DS1 we told them when I was about 6weeks pregnant and will probably do the same with any future BFPs
2) When do you actually go for your first Drs appt once you have a BFP? Depends on the doctor. Mine wants to see me as soon as I get my BFP because my pregnancies will forever be considered high-risk
