Off the wall poll...Do you wash your hands after every diaper change??

This poll will hopefully put a long time argument to rest.  I'm not saying what I do either way, just curious.  NOT what you think you should do, but what you actually do.

And does it matter if the diaper change is poop or pee?

    No, only if I get poop on my hands sometimes I'll go wash other times ill use a baby wipe, hand sanitizer.

    Yes. If I can't then I use sanitizer but I'd much rather wash my hands. I imagine you wash your hands every time you go to the bathroom so I really don't see any difference.

    This. However if we're out and about in a public bathroom I wash my hands and LO's hands every time more out of habit than anything else.

    Yes with either one but it could be either a wipe, sanitizer, or soap and water.

    100% this. I hope everyone washes their hands post going to the bathroom, whether or not you get anything on your hands, right?

    I use hand sanitizer or wash my hands (and LO's hands) after every diaper change.  Of course, I wash my hands dozens of times a day regardless.

    After pee - maybe 1/2 the time (I mean, half the time I'm changing pee diapers on the fly). After poop - everytime. I wash my hands after everytime I go to the bathroom though. The difference I see is that I don't always wipe DD when it's a pee diaper, so I'm not really touching anything.

    I have a huge hand sanitizer bottle on the changing table. I use it every time. If i do manage to get poop on me (lol) then I will wash my hands as well.

    BFP 5/21/10, Missed m/c 7/5/10 at 11w3d (baby measured 7wks), D&C 7/7/10

    Aug/Sept 2010 - CD3&10 b/w & u/s, genetic testing, SA, HSG, & Lap/Hyst to remove septum

    12/09/10 BFP -- 7/05/11 DS born at 33w5d. Came home after 23d in NICU at 37w0d

    June 2012 - TTC #2! -- 10/05/12 BFP --  5/23/13 DS2 born at 37w1d! Yay full term!

    Surprise BFP 6/25/14 LO#3 due Feb2015!

    I doubt I've ever washed my hands after a pee diaper!  However, I always do after a poo diaper. If I'm out in public (like at the park or something) and need to change him in the car, I always use the wipes to wipe down my hands afterwards.  I also use wipes to wipe my hands and his hand after every diaper change, pee or poo.

    Thanks ladies.  Just curious.  I'm more laid back when it comes to this, I guess. and a certain family member gets on me about it.

    If I'm home and change a poop and it gets on my hands, I'll wash.  If it doesn't, I just use wipes.  I am a clean freak, just not a germaphobe I guess.
