I've just started swaddling again and it's working so far because his arms are secure but he flails his legs around and wakes himself up. I'm using a swaddleme. How do I get him to stay asleep?
You may want to try a traditional blanket swaddle (the A and A blankets are good for this). That way you have more control over how the swaddle is laying over the legs. You can gently swaddle the legs a little tighter around but still allow room for a full leg stretch outwards.
We swaddle religiously because of the way he throws his arms and feet around. Using the Aden + Anais blankets from Target are helpful because they're large and lightweight, so he doesn't get too hot. When we swaddle him, he usually has his legs extended, so he doesn't get cramped up, but I do a really tight swaddle on him--he tends to prefer it that way.
I'll have to try those because hell be sound asleep in my arms all swaddled and I lay him down and he's awake and screaming 5 min later. And I can't calm him back down with out letting him comfort nurse most of the time. It makes for really bad sleeping for both of us.
