Agh. There were 30 ppl on the other side of the railing from the three of us who were there to "watch" 2 foster parents (including me) and the grandfather who is accused of sexually abusing one of my foster son's sisters.
There were so many attorneys....and so much back and forth between them that the judge had to step in and tell them to shut it.
It was rather entertaining, but then again it was my first time in family court and all parties told me that this case is "crazy" anyway.
The good news is that our FS is still living with us. The judge wouldn't even listen to biomom's request to have all three kids returned today. Our permanency hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26...two days before our FS 1st birthday and it's expected not to change anything. The neglect trial is set for Dec 7, 19 and 21st depending on how many days are needed to get through it. Then the decision on Jan 28th. So, we should have him until Jan 28th very likely anyway.
The therapist (for our FDs) told me she thinks that biomom will just plead to a lower charge and get to see her kids more. We are really hoping that the social worker is able to get off the case, like she really wants, bc she is very soft on the biomom. The therapist also told me that if it does go to trial that the biomom will probably have a break down on the stand and act out and that the court will likely have me testify to how well out FS is doing in our home.
It was a long day, but a good one.
