Double ear infection

LO had a doctor's appointment today and we found out she has a double ear infection: the doctor put her on amoxacillin for 10 days but how long does it take for it to start helping her feel better? I feel like such a bad mommy: also is there anything I cann give her to help with pain? and have any of you ever heard of using breastmilk to help with the congestion and infection in the ear?

Re: Double ear infection

  • It usually starts to make a difference in about 48 hours. Don't feel bad, as long as you keep bath water out as best you can and feed in an upright position, you are preventing as best you can. Sometimes it just happens.

  • You can take her to a chiropractor. That's how we fix ear infections. It is an immediate change! Good luck!

  • I took Dexter in today too and he has the same thing.  He looked in his ears and said "yeah I see fluid."  I was like what does that mean???  and he said "ear infections."   So he gave him Amoxacillin for the next 10 days too.  Its okay though.  They usually feel better after about day 2 of antibiotics like terri said.  (My one year old just got through with her 10 days of antibiotics for the same thing!)  You arent a bad mommy.  Tis the season for everyone to get sick over viruses and allergies.  For pain, just rub baby down and maybe give a warm bath and lots of cuddles.  I can tell Dexter is in some pain.  Poor thing even wimpers and cringes after each cough.  I feel so helpless sometimes for him.  I cant wait for him to feel better!  Take care and just give lots of lovings to baby right now.
