Two of my SILs had baby boys this summer, so we already have a massive bag of hand-me-downs that we can use. I plan to wash all those things as we get them.
For new stuff, I will probably wait till after Christmas to go through everything we've got to select the choice few outfits that I want to have handy. I'll do a load or two when I'm off work for the holidays.

I've already started because we were given a bunch of clothes for LO already . Our baby shower is Nov. 11th and im sure we will be getting more. I wanted to start early so i dont get overwhelmed with baby clothes. hehe
I actually did this this past weekend, even though it was too early (and we don't even have the dresser to put them in). I had a few reasons why though:
1. This was all stuff I picked up second hand so it all NEEDED to be washed - If it would have been new clothing with tags I would have waited but I saw no point in waiting.
2. I wasn't really sure what I all even had picked up, so I wanted to organize it and see so that in my future searches I could pick up more actuate sizes (I found out I think I am basically set for newborn and 0-3 months, I have a TON of things - so for now I am in search of good deals on some larger sizes).
I am currently using a pack n play to hold all of the "sorted" and folded clothing, until the dresser gets here.
Good deal.... I think once we have the dresser and changing table in place I am jst going to wash everything and organize asap! I jst want it done! I also have no idea what I actually have.... its all in bags in the closet at this point!
I'll wash a few items around 35 weeks, but then hold off on the rest until we come home from the hospital and I can decide if I need to exchange sizes of anything.
I washed all second hand stuff I purchased or received already. But new stuff I will wait on. I might actually keep smaller sizes (newborn) with the tags until LO is born just incase he/she won't fit into them.

Our crib and dresser are being delivered tomorrow. My final shower is on Saturday. I plan to start washing things next week... I can't do too much at a time and we're not sure how long this LO is going to stay cooking...

We just purchased a house and our closing date is set for December 14. Fingers crossed it will be sooner, but who knows. So we will be moving and changing jobs, and then comes Christmas. Also, the room that baby will be in is currently the dedicated "spare room" during our move, which is where everything that doesn't have a place will go until I can deal with it.
So...hopefully by the beginning of January I will have everything organized...ugh.
Everything we got was 2nd hand so my mom has been washing and organizing it all by size for me. I am hoping to get his dresser in his room next week and filling it up. I haven't washed anything with tags besides his coming home outfit. I am going to wait and see how big he is and see what will fit and not fit.
I'm planning to wash the hand-me-downs + consignment buys whenever we get a dresser. Not sure when that will be. Hopefully by the end of December! My work is closed 12/24 through 1/1, so I'm planning to finish up that kind of stuff then. I'll be 35 weeks.
Oh, this time around, I may not wash a bunch of stuff before wearing lol. The turnover on clean outfits is so quick, I'm not too worried about it. That and if she doesn't end up wearing something before growing out of it, the tags will still be on and we can pass new clothes on to another baby. I know, I know, slacker mom. With my son, I did wash everything about a month before.
I'm like you and want to start washing sooner rather than later. I'm thinking during December sometime since I am pretty busy November and can see myself getting antsy in December.
For you CD mama's, when are you going to prep your CD's?
I have aleady started. I have washed them all 4 times.... and will wash them a 5th time in December.

My Blog
With DS #1 I did it once my maternity leave started (my baby shower was thrown right before it started) and it turned out to be good timing. With baby #2 I think I might start in about a month, since we are using all of DS#1's stuff we have to get it out of storage and sort through it, so we might as well just get it washed and put away at the same time
I pulled out and washed all the newborn/0-3 month stuff this week! Guess I'm too early on that one. It's not like it hasn't been washed a million times before though or will get dirty sitting in the drawer. I really probably didn't need to wash them at all, they still smelled like detergent when I dragged them out. They are sooo tiny! I forgot how small DS used to be!
The stuff we got 2nd hand has already been washed and hung up. I wanted to sort it and see what we had/needed. Some of the outfits with tags haven't been washed yet. There is a huge consignment sale here this wknd I want to go to to get the last few items we need and I'm sure I'll pick up some clothes for lil one there too altho he is pretty set its my 3yo who has had a growth spurt that needs winter clothes!
I got a lot of cute hand me down clothes that are all washed and put away It is one thing I can say I have accomplished as for everything else not so much haha

I started today because I dont have a dryer and I am in the middle of the rainy season here.
Under normal conditions, I would want everything ready by my 34th week.
