Dahlia was walking down the sidewalk for the first time by herself, and tripped! She landed smack on her forehead and immediately started screaming (of course). Within seconds the spot turned purple, then red, then swelled. We were meeting a landlord to look at a house, and of course, she pulled up right at that second. Dahlia calmed down rather quickly, and now 2 hours later is napping.
DH said I shouldn't be concerned, that all kids bump their heads, but it's gotten me worried. I guess all we can really do is keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get worse, right?
Traumatic day for her
she got ice cream shortly after.
Re: bumped her head on concrete
If you were worried you shouldn't have let her sleep....
I'm sure that she's fine. She didn't puke or anything, right? Her eyes looked focused and normal?
If you had called your doc they would have said "bring her in the be checked" so I'm not going to suggest that. As long as she wakes up and is acting normal and the swelling doesn't get HUGE I would say your husband is right.
If she was acting normal between the fall and nap she's probably good to go.
Your hubby is right..all kids fall.
My pedi and all the old ladies I know always remind me if there's a lot of crying after it's a good sign. It's pretty true actually at least in my world.

typically she would have had some sort of symptom (vomitting, dizzyness, loss of conciousness, acting "off") within the first 12 hours of a head injury. If you are concerned I would call the dr. and run through the checklist with him/her to check for a head injury. My daughters have hit their heads and I have been to the hospital over a head injury.
Also, I would wake her up during the night and check her. However, I would probably say your instinct is right and to follow it if you think she is alright fine, if your really worried it doesn't hurt to call the dr.
She probably would be exhibiting some sort of strange behavior or you would have had trouble waking her up, etc. if there was a problem.
