Makes Me Smile Monday

DS was up a LOT last night, so I need some happy stories. Please share!

Here is one of mine: Last Wednesday I was getting ready to go to dinner with friends, and DH was watching DS for a few minutes. As I was coming out of the bathroom, I heard, "A cow says Moo. A sheep says Baa. Three singing pigs..." DH was reading DS a story! It was hilarious to hear him b/c it was almost like he was reading a technical manual (vs my very animated reading style). I couldn't let on that I heard him or DH would have gotten embarrassed, but it was so darn cute!

PS If you can think of a better name than "Makes Me Smile Monday" please share!

  • I LOVE the name and I love your story!!

I don't really have a story, just that (knock on wood) LO has been getting slightly better at putting herself back to sleep.  She even had a four-hour stretch last night.  It was very nice!!

I would also like to add that she is napping now and making the cutest noises ever!!:)

  • DD wouldn't go to sleep for anything last night and DH came to kiss her goodnight. She was kind of sleepy, but as soon as she heard him, opened her eyes wide open and was all smiles.

It was too cute. She eventually went down at midnight and gave me a 5h stretch (smiles for that too)

  • very sweet!! I like "Makes me smile Monday.." Lately, I have been waking him up every morning with a smile on my face watching LO...But he's growing up so fast. (i feel it more so, since my nephew was born this weekend.) My LO looks like a giant baby compared to my nephew who is 5 pounds!
  • My 2 1/2 year old has a plethora of things under the couch...he was looking under the couch for something and brought out the book "what to expect when expecting" and handed it to me. He has no clue that I'm even pregnant and that book has been sitting under the couch for who knows how long, like over a year. Guess I'll start reading it again. :)

  • So yesterday I posted about DS not pooping but that afternoon we got a nice "peanut buttery" surprise. It was so big that H freaked out and called for my help. So he held DS down while I opened up the diaper and we both were so shocked by the amount and consistency of the poop that we cracked up big time! Like uncontrollable crying crack up...and DS started cracking up!!! I mean he's laughed before but this was like a continuous cracking up laughter. He was looking at us then started joining us. And that made up laugh even harder! I wish that family moment could have been recorded.

That's a great story! You should definitely write in lo's baby book!!

  • LOs new thing is being shy. He hides his face and giggles or happy screams when people "get" him.

Today, his new rubber duck was on the bookshelf. I held him up and said, "Grab your ducky!" We were standing there for a minute (he still moves in slow-mo when he's concentrating) but he got it! It's so funny how the smallest things seem like the coolest things!

Aw DD loves Sandra Boynton and this book as well :D

My Smile is that even though DD seems to have a mild cold, she's being a total champ about it! Sure she's a little fussier, but for the most part she's being really good and happy :)

I love candid moments of DH with DD.

Last Monday he's out in the garage with her and he's listening to Kenny Chesney's "There Goes My Life" and singing about how he's going to load up his Dodge Ram with her Abercrombie clothes (he makes up his own words to every song).  I quietly looked out the door and he's slow dancing with her, singing the song, and when I go to talk to him he's crying.

And funny thing, when we found out I was pregnant we heard two songs on the radio:  "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney and "Just Fishin" by Trace Adkins so we took it as a sign we were going to have a girl, one year later here we are!

I'm having a hormonal moment. I started crying when I read this. Yay for awesome daddies :)
