Anyone Else 34w+??

And lost all motivation??  I am beating myself up...  I have been SO on top of working out and diet, up until about 2 wks ago.  I started to get very painful contrax everytime I exercised, and that scared me into taking a break, as baby is very low and head down already (also measuring a wk ahead).  I then got sick with a nasty cold and respiratory infection, and now I am just completely unmotivated, and have no drive whatsoever!!  Any advice or tips?  I will say, my appetite is pretty much gone, given DD is crushing my intestines, so I can't eat more than a few bites.  Just worried I am going to lose strength and tone.  I worked out pretty much up to my due date with DD#1.

I need someone to give me a kick in the rear!

  • I'm sure you won't loose much strength at all considering you are almost there. kudos to you for even working out during your pregnancy, every time I tried I was puking

  • Im behind you by 10 weeks but kudos to you for staying at it!! I know I am mighty uncomfortable these days exercising but I just keep on keeping doing whatever I can!

I hit a similar week or two where I lost motivation but I loaded my ipod with some new music and splurged on a new pair of running shoes!  That definately helped kick me in the rear!

Do you have a treadmill or somewhere you can at least walk?  Maybe try some dvds or something from the library.

  • Get back to it!  Even if it's hard and you're not feeling as strong/motivated/whatever as before... do it anyway.

Setbacks are natural and to be expected.  Just take them in stride and keep going.  Don't give up now-- NOT working out will make you feel more lethargic and sick and emotional than anything.

I'm about 34.5 weeks, and I'm running 5-6 miles/day and lifting heavy weights 3x/week.  You can do this!

I agree with this - even on days when I have no motivation, I get myself out the door & workout. I have not regretted it yet, and feel better each day that I do - even if it is just a brisk walk versus a full on work out, it's good for you to keep moving :)

  • I am 34 weeks and have been doing a pretty good job of working out 4-5 days a week up until last week.  I am so exhausted after working all day that I just have no energy.  I am getting really down on myself for the lack of exercise - I've only gone twice this week.  I'm also slacking a bit on my diet and need to figure out a way to get the nutrition I and baby need as well as get myself back to working out!  Any suggestions would be great!
  • Honestly, don't be too hard on yourself!  I didn't make it nearly that far exercising!  It got to the point where every time I started a cardio machine, I had to continuously jump off to pee and just became a huge PITA!

  • I vote don't push it. Your body is telling you to cool it. Muscle memory is a great thing and you will regain any lost tone very quickly when you get back at it.

There's no shame in slowing down when your body is telling you to chill.

FWIW I lost my appetite and hit a wall at 35 weeks and my water broke a week later, at the gym (ironically considering this post.) I wasn't pushing it through any tough workouts but my body was telling me that baby was coming early.

  • I have definitely lost motivation at this point (I see we have the same due date!), and used to work out 6/7 days a week. Now I have switched to every other day because sometimes I am just so tired. I am thinking about bumping it back up, though, because I loved how my body felt working out every day.
