Baby monitor

Question for STM's. I have had one shower and did not receive my baby monitor. My next shower will not be until 3 or 4 weeks after LO is born. 

My question is should I go ahead and purchase a monitor so we have it one LO is born or can we wait and see if we get one at the next shower?

    You really won't need one the first couple weeks baby is born. You will most likely always have baby in your eyesight so you will definitely be able to hear him.

    I agree that you can probably wait to buy the monitor until you find out if you get it at the 2nd shower. With my first LO, we had him in the pack n' play bassinet right next to our bed for the first couple months. Then once we felt more comfortable and got onto some sort of "schedule" we moved him into his crib in the nursery and that's when we needed the monitor.
