Accuracy of 16 week ultrasound

I went to an elective ultrasound place at exactly 16 weeks and had an amazing experience. The tech seemed to know what she was doing and told me boy. She pointed out body parts and was so helpful.

I am still a little in shock that I'm having a boy, as I was convinced I was having another girl. (I really don't care if baby is boy or girl- I'm just so anxious to know as I am totally Type A and a planner). I want to make sure that I'm really having a boy. She couldn't get a clear potty shot to print, but said she could clearly see the boy parts. Anyone on here been told boy at 16 weeks and then found out baby was a girl? I just want to make sure before I announce it to family and friends and start getting trading/ selling DD's old clothes and afford the boys clothes. LOL

I found out with my son that he was a boy at 16 weeks, and it was pretty clear. I got a good potty shot pic though. I was still concerned like you, that I would buy all boy stuff, and that he was a girl. Later ultrasounds confirmed that he was all boy! Now I am pregnant with my second, and we were told at 18 weeks boy, but again, I always have that worry in the back of my head that later we will find out he is a she!

potty shot?!

It doesn't help that I had a very vivid dream a few nights before the ultrasound where the tech said boy at the u/s, but then the dream flashed to DH carrying a baby out of the hospital wearing a hot pink hat. When I was pregnant with DD, I had such vivid dreams about a girl baby before I found out DD was a girl. I guess I'm going to have to wait to tell until after our a/s at 21 weeks. I'm very thankful baby has been healthy and feel lucky that if I'm only worrying about gender, I'm a lucky mommy.

A potty shot is the picture of the baby's genital area from in between the legs. Imagine you are sitting on a toilet and a picture is taken from underneath. (I know it's an unpleasant thought Stick out tongue ) They say this is the best angle to detemine sex. Baby wouldn't show "his" goods from this angle at this u/s. With DD, her little butt was front and center every u/s so there was no denying that she was all girl. This little baby wouldn't show the tushy.

hum.. with out a great shot of the goods I would be careful too and wait till your A/S at 20 weeks no fun but better safe than sorry...

we got a for sure shot that baby is a girl so i was comfertable sharing but if it was only say 80% I would wait...

A co-preggo of mine "found out" the sex of her baby at 16 weeks and it was confirmed the opposite at her 20 week anatomy scan. I'd wait if I were you! She told Everyone the wrong gender

We were told boys at 15w, and they've been confirmed as boys at 19w and 22w.

I found out Ds was a boy at 18w.

I had an elective US at 17w this time and was told boy. It was confirmed girl at my 20w AS! It's a crazy roller coaster ride of emotions to be told it was wrong, but luckily I waited to share the news until our 20w AS. GL

When I was pregnant with DD, I found out right at 17 weeks and from what I understand its tougher to see girl than boy. I about jumped out of my chair because I swore I was having a boy! I checked every ultrasound after that and even expected a boy to pop out at delivery... but no! She's ALL girl!
