Pregnant after a Loss

Intro and Questions

Hi all, I'm new here and hoping to get to stick around!

I had a miscarriage September 24 and my fiance and I have been TTC though we were kind of leaving it up to fate lol since a week or so after then. I was never told to wait between cycles, though that probably would've been smart.

Anyway, I got negative hpts for a good week or two and then my boobs started aching and I've been feeling a little nauseous with backaches, so I went out and got some more hpt. Tested late last night and got a very faint I'm talking you had to squint and hold it up to the light 2nd line on a First Response. Took another one this morning after 7 hours of sleep and the line was still faint. So I went to Walmart and grabbed a couple of Equate early responses. I got the very faintest of blue lines that you again had to hold up to the light to see.

So my question is, are they just really faint because they're early? Or is it the possible signaling of a chemical pregnancy? I know with my mc the lines were a lot darker, but I was also testing like a day before my period or a day or so after then. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks since the mc, so that would only make me a couple of weeks along anyway. I'm gonna retest in a few days but I just needed some assurance because I certainly don't want to go through another mc or experience a chemical pregnancy or something. It's gonna drive me crazy waiting a couple of days to retest!

Thanks for any help and I look forward to getting to know everyone :.

Re: Intro and Questions

  • They're probably just faint because of how early it is. When I had my early miscarriage/chemical pregnancy my lines were super light and then got progressively darker over the next few days and then when I took another test a few days later because I "just couldn't believe it", it was super faint again. I don't know if that experience is typical but I thought I'd share what happened to me.

  • I would give your doc a call ASAP - they should be able to determine what's up. I know with me, the first time, I got such a faint positive I thought it was not real... So I tested like 4 more times the next few days and it got darker. But I don't know if that's always true. I hope your dr can help!

    Welcome to the board!!

  • If it has only been 5 weeks since your miscarriage you're probably not as late as you think you are, since it's likely you ovulated later than usual.

    Good luck and congratulations!

  • Thank you all for the advice and warm welcome!

I was thinking its probably just very early. I can't be more than 3 or 4 weeks along, and I'm honestly surprised it even showed up this early. But boy are my symptoms showing up lol.

I think I'll retest on Halloween and then call my doctor and setup an appointment if the news looks good. Gonna start taking prenatals again in the meantime and take it easy.

Congratulations! I hope you get a stronger line on Halloween. Take it easy until then!
