Bed time screaming!!!

our son is almost 2 and has suddenly begun HATING bedtime.  He will scream and scream and scream when we lay him down.  If we rock him or lay with him he will eventually go to sleep but seems to wake up shortly after we leave.  I'm thinking this is just a phase.  Anyone have experiences with this or good ideas to make bedtime easier.  We've been working really hard to keep a bed time routine hoping that would help. We've also started doing bed earlier since he takes so long to go to sleep.

    mine went thru something similar around 2. then we implemented the bedtime routine from 123 Magic and, like Magic (no kidding), things calmed down. bedtimes are pretty awesome for us these days...

    When we get into screaming cycles, he knows that screaming = our bed. So I have to go in his room, tell him he's staying in his crib and goodnight. He screams for a few more minutes and then sleeps in his bed just fine for a month or two.

    However, are you sure the 2 year old molars aren't coming in? Because they're awful.
