IVF Consult

Lurking over from 3T!  History is in my siggy.  Beta for IUI #2 is supposed to be tomorrow... not going in a hurricane to get blood drawn for a negative beta :(  Looking towards the future, I have my IVF consult scheduled on this Tuesday!

My big fear is that I will get to ER and all the folicles will end up being empty/estrogen producing cysts since my RE is suspicious that this may have been happening in previous cycles!

What questions should I make sure to ask? (We do have insurance coverage in case that matters)

Thanks Big Smile

  • I was thinking about you too! I had an IVF consult in August but am going in again on Thursday because we've finally started the process. These are a few of the questions I'm asking.

    1. Success rates and do they differ with the number of embers transferred
    2. Cost for a FET if needed and we get frosties
    3. Recommendations for bed rest after ER and ET. Also exercise, sex etc.
    4. Protocol being used?
    5. Do they do assisted hatching?
    6. How many 3 day vs 5 day transfers
    7. Pain with ER and pain management?
    8. Vaginal or external u/s with ER and ET. Some clinics differ
    9. How often do they do monitoring

Those are all the questions I can think of now. GL with your appointment. Keep us posted!

    This.  Great list of questions.

  • The list above is great. I would ask as many questions as possible about the protocol. Ask about the meds and what exactly they do. It was really helpful for me to know what was being done to my body scientifically. Otherwise, I worried about everything. Make sure they give you a list of medications you can take throughout the process for various things (pain, allergies, stomach upset, etc).
