Sudden aversion to dairy?

Anyone else suddenly having trouble with dairy?  I was lactose intolerant as a child and grew out of it.  For the past week any time I eat dairy or cheese I'm in trouble.  Bloating, gas, abdominal pains, and not fun bathroom time.  Is it possible that I can be going back to childhood lactose intolerance?

  • It's possible. I have also become more sensitive, though not totally intolerant. I just avoid drinking milk or eating ice cream, but I can still use milk or cheese in cooking.

  • If anything, I love milk right now.

same here. i was also told that drinking milk will make your baby have nicer skin and of course is good for baby. :)

  • I'm lactose intolerant anyway and if possible it's worse while KU. Then of course I crave pepperoni pizza and peppermint ice cream.
  • I had this about 2 weeks ago -- I was really nervous because dairy had been one of my biggest cravings!  But it passed.  But for a few days I thougth I'd developed adult onset lactose intolerence.

  • I have Lactose Intolerance and actually tolerate it better while pregnant.  But have also read about other people developing sensitivities to dairy while pregnant.  Make sure you consider how much calcium you are taking in if you completely eliminate dairy from your diet.

  • I think it's possible. My allergies and asthma have changed with each pg.

With dairy, the only time I drink milk as an adult is when I'm pg. Sometimes I just need a glass with dinner. Normally I just drink water.

  • Yes! My whole pregnancy, I've been eating cereal (with milk) for breakfast, then last week I started having gas pains and bloating a couple of hours after.  I stopped eating cereal for a few days, and it went away immediately.  I had a very small bowl of cereal this morning and was fine, so maybe you could re-introduce in small amounts?
