Rock N Play ?s

I didn't have a swing last time and don't plan on getting one this time. However, I want to hear more about the RnP. Ladies on the bump are raving about the RnP. I don't think it was around when DD was born so is it better than a swing? Would y'all suggest getting one? Give me the scoop!

  • DS loves both the swing and the RNP.  The RNP is so handy because it's portable!  So we take it with us when we go to my parents house, or to visit the inlaws.  It folds up nicely and is light.

DS still sleeps in his RNP next to me.  Not ready to transition him to the crib yet!

  • They serve pretty different purposes for us. Dd finally staged a coup and stopped using it last week, but we got a good 6.5 mos out of RNP. It was dd's bed while she slept in our room, it traveled around the house when I was doing chores, showering, etc. it went with us to friends house when dd would need to sleep while visiting, it was a containment area to keep the dog from licking her to death. We LOVE it! We have the standard yellow one. I read the snugabunny style ones are too hot and they have mold problems since the fabric doesn't breathe well.

  • We have both. He sleeps in the RNP. As for the swing, it is hit or miss with him. He usually only lasts about 15 minutes in the swing and then cries. I like the RNP because if he starts to wake, I just give it a little rock and he's sleeping again.

  • We got this one - I don't think they had the plush ones when I was pregnant. But I would have been worried about SIDS with them. It doesn't rock much without help but I think it must be very comfortable. It is good for acid reflux, naps, and traveling. We used it with DD for 7 months or so.

  • I think they're drastically different to the point where I wouldn't even consider them in competition with one another. The RNP is more of a bassinet, although it does rock. We used it for his first 2 months but my son is really long and just wasn't as comfy so we moved him to the crib. He slept great in the RNP and it took about a week to transition to the crib but I'm glad we did it early. Even though it was super portable, I really didn't move it around much but I liked that I could. I could have it next to the bed and rock it with my foot while I hoped for a few more minutes of sleep, and that was priceless. We used our swing a lot longer than the RNP but just for occasional naps and entertainment. I liked having both and would get both if I were ever doing it again (which I'm not!).

  • I don't think like PP said, u can compare a RNP to a swing...

I plan to use this RNP for the baby to sleep in for the first few months, till the baby transitions into the crib..

Also, its portable, so can move around the house and also go to both grandmas!

All of this. Except we have the Snugabunny and love it. No heat or mold problems here.
