Where/how did you research convertible car seats?

DD is 28 inches long now so I'm looking to replace our Chicco KeyFit 30 fairly quickly. I'm looking at the Britax Diplomat or the Maxi-Cosi, but I want to do more research. Where did you look to see safety info, etc.?

Consumer Reports rates the Britax Roundabout and the Evenflo Triumph as the top rated seats for safety and ease of use.

We found out from consumer reports also. We have the britax marathon and we have the evenflo triumph also but that stays with grandpa. DS likes the britax much much better. The triumph is wider and bulkier and the butt part is somehow not right. He slides down...just isn't right.
