I will definitely not be winning any mom of the year awards with my latest stunt. My DS is 2.5 years old. Keep that age in mind. When going through papers yesterday I came to realize that I NEVER GOT HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE! I have something that looks just like it but apparently it is a confirmation letter thing and I was supposed to send in for the birth certificate. I have never actually needed it so didn't notice. I feel HORRIBLE. Obviously I am going to call first thing tomorrow morning and get this taken care of. I have all the info I need I just never sent in for it. Anyone know how hard this might be to get taken care of?

You aren't a bad mom, it's not a big deal, and it should be pretty simple (it'll probably take a few weeks to arrive though).

Thanks for the reassurance! I know it doesn't make me a bad mom, but I feel bad for not being more responsible. I feel like the birth certificate is kind of a big deal. Hopefully I can get it easily!

Not a big deal. I was giving the option to either pay for the birth certificate if I wanted a copy right away or I can just keep it on file with the state and request and pay for a copy whenever I wanted/needed it.

I'm pretty sure that I don't have DD2s birth certificate. I'm also kinda pretty sure that I don't even know where that confirmation thingy is. Oops.

LOL! You're not a bad mom! The only reason I got ours ASAP was because our insurance company wanted to see a copy within a certain timeframe to add him to our insurance. I was able to go to city hall and fill out a form and pay the fee, and walk out with several copies of his birth certificate.
