Dr wants us to give it to DS for breathing problems he has with colds. Not liking what I read online about it. Side affects, behavior issues. I want to just try it for the cold season and see what happens but I"m so nervous!!!
DD was on this for a while for her asthma (sounds like the same issue your DS has; she has asthma induced by viruses/colds). Your DS may not need to take it forever. We started at 2x/day, then about 6 months later went to 1x/day, and now we only give it to her when she is sick and has a cough (this is all per instructions from the allergy/asthma doctor, of course). I did not like the idea of giving her daily steroids but honestly it made a huge difference for her and was well worth it. I didn't notice any behavior problems that were outside what I'd expect from her age! I would say give it a try. You can always stop if you think he's experiencing problems with it.
DS2 is on a daily inhaled steroid. Q-var. I read some things that I was not to happy with too, but him being able to breath and not end up in the hospital is worth it. Try it out and see what happens. If it is bad you can try something else.
Joey's on Flovent during the winter season. Well... Sept-April. Last year we used Pulmicort through the nebulizer and it worked really well. We started the inhaler this year so we didn't have to do the nebulizer each night, so far so good.
My DS just started flovent for asthma. But for us it has been a nightmare. Major behavior issues, aggression, depression. It has been a long couple of weeks. I'm just trying to hang in there until we see the specialist in a week and a half. So not working for my guy though. It's sad to see my sweet boy like this.

Sorry to hear that! We are on day 5 and so far so good. Hope the Dr helps you. I think there are other meds that are similar for asthma.

My daughter is on it she gets 2 puffs in the morning. She has been fine using it.
I made it past my goal I nursed for 1 year and 6 weeks! Im so proud of myself!
Thanks for all the info. I know every drug has side effects and hoping for the best with this one. And a relief to cold related breathing issues!
