Lo has yet to have a cold( knock on wood) but know that his first will be coming especially with the weather changing. I went and picked up a warm mist vaporizer, baby vicks vapo rub, stocked up on more infant tylenol, saline nose mist and pedialite. Anything else I should have handy? The pharmacist suggested when he's a bit older and gets a cold, having canned fruit around. Something about the syrup from it helping to soothe their throat??? Anyone heard of this? TIA for any suggestions on supplies.

Re: LO hasn't had a cold yet, but I know it's coming, Advice on supplies to have handy?
Are you breastfeeding? If so, that has a lot of antibodies in it. Make sure that any food s/he is getting is good healthy food to help promote a good immune system. I like to avoid medications as often as I can (although I will use them as a final last resort). If you are breastfeeding, try taking extra Vitamin C supplements (that is passed through breastmilk and boost immune systems), and get your baby a Vitamin D supplement (Vitacost.com has a great one, their brand, no extra ingredients except olive oil, totally natural).
Colds are not inevitable. Just wash your hands a lot and keep LO secure and safe from strangers hands and coughs/sneezes. You'll be fine!
Unfortunately, I was unable to breastfeed. I was Pre E and gestational DB during my pregnancy-double high risk (even had a 1.5 month hospital stay trying to make it to week 37 and luckily did) but because of all the magnesium and other meds I had to be on, my milk came in really late (3wks PP) so, I had to go the formula route. Thanks for the suggestion nonetheless, I was curious about vitamin D supplements and if they are something I should explore. Think I'll have to look further into that. Thanks!
I've also heard good things about them. If and when LO gets a cold and seeing how well his current nose aspirator works during that time, I may have to get one.
I have one...defintely makes my list of top ten need-to-have baby items.
