to much milk???

Is there a thing as to much milk for your LO to drink? I haven't really sat there and counted or measured how much whole milk she is drinking. She still eats all her meals, and snacks throughout the day. She also gets water or water w a little apple juice.

Re: to much milk???

  • My pedi said no more than 24 oz of whole milk per day-to keep them from becoming anemic from not eating enough solids.

  • I don't know how much is too much, but DD drinks 3 cups a day, between 4 and 8 oz each time. (I offer 8, but sometimes she doesn't finish.)

This.  Although your kiddo sounds like a good eater.  Sometimes too much milk makes them less hungry for real food.

I give her a half a sippy of milk each at breakfast, lunch & dinner, after she's eaten most of her food.  Water only the rest of the day (as much as she wants).

  • My pedi says 12-20 oz per day.  They each drink about 16 oz. 8oz with breakfast and with dinner.  Although some days they'll have another glass mid day.  If they drink too much they could become anemic because it can inhibit iron absorption.  And some kids get constipated from all of the calcium.
